Like many of us on the IDW you will find that we started left or centre-left. I don't feel like I've changed my views on bigotry, feminism, freedom, racism etc. but I feel like the radical left has appropriated what left is and if you're not trying to burn down the system (that gave them all the toys they use to spread their hate ) then you aren't left anymore. They care not for free speech and it seems they're willing to dehumanize people who don't share their views thereby making violence against that ok. I see this as pure hypocrisy since violence against other groups isn't ok (unless they pose a threat to your safety of course) . Somewhere they (the radical left) lost what sense they had because I see more of a facist threat from the actions and doctrines of ANTIFA then I do from the right wing. This site has helped me in not feeling like everyone in the world has lost their collective minds. There are problems in the world of course, and in every country. I am Canadian but still feel like free speech is now just a concept, not a reality. I think some of the radical left truly want revolution without realizing the implications of such action. As they're views become more radicalized and just plain stupid they will drive more people away who cannot be a part of a group that espouses to hate those who hate without realizing what an oxymoron that is. I hope you are enjoying the IDW. Let them have their "safe spaces" and we can hang out in a "sane space".

Glad to have you. Ironic that the new "Woke" means waking from a nightmare of hate and discontent. I couldn't tell you what the B is in LGB since I don't pay much attention to identity politics but I can tell you my mother was gay and something in her raising engendered a conservative mind. As was hers. What we've seen with the media and Trump is appalling. Sure he's a bull in the China closet but any grace or generosity in interpretation, along with research in transcripts, would lead a person to the 'intent' which is generally well intended. Granted his communication is often the exaggerated reaction of a narcissistic figure but who is politics is not narcissistic, and who in politics today has an agenda more prescriptive for the U.S.? There is only one explanation and it is that the mainstream media is an arm of a political party and power is the objective and coverage is a strategic plan for which every broadcast is a tactic. If there were ever justification for Hate Speech regulation it would be to stop a media who uses their constitutional protection to pervert and corrupt the political process.

It's a philosophical difference, the individual or the State is revered.

If you revere the state, you wait until the prophets of the state define dogma.

The FDA is finally on board, that will change the dynamic.

The left has become obsessed with victim culture and identity politics. There is an ever increasing hierarchy of the oppressed. Unless your at the top of that your ability to have opinions and or tolerated speech on any societal matter of import with be structurally limited in correlation to your ranking on that scale.

It practices racism in the extreme against white people, falsely playing the "privalge" card when multiple studies show that location, education and family structure are the vital components to ones socioeconomic success.

Then we can look at the left's obsession with globalism and its continual attack on white european culture and its continual demonization of christianity in an attempt of mass ethono-cide and replacisim.

The left also and a contradictory relationship with Islam and it's far more radical Sharia law. How this ever became tolerated and defended by LGBTQ, Feminists and socialists I'll never understand as the relationship is completely contradictory in its nature of principles.

All the while slowly devoring even it's own ability to speak as the left's ever more radical intolerance to any speech on any political or societal topic.

Add that to its proclaimed saviour of socialism (which almost none of them can properly define) and its habitual tendencies to murder people (120 million and counting) for the cherry on top.

So when you apply the above rationality to the left you can start to understand why exactly people who are center or right or even moderate leftists look at the current incarnation of leftwing ideology with growing horror.

Welcome to the reality of TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome). This lack of substantial reporting in regard to anything that doesn't smear Trump is what happens when quite a few of our countries media outlets are controlled by a man that spent $935 Million of his own money trying to buy the presidency and beat Trump in 2020. To your point, the lack of reporting doesn't just include Trump, but anyone who doesn't fall in line with the media's narrative. Our media outlets have become nearly as bad as the State Run Media of Russia and China since they all owned/controlled by the same small group of people. We live in a world of Op-Eds and Newslike TV Show Hosts from Fox to CNN. I generally look outside the US for any substantial new stories with actual journalism behind them. And as the old adage goes, I believe half of what I see and none of what I hear when it comes to the today's media.

Welcome to IDW community. About the only things unwelcome here are censorship, profain language and content, ad hominnem attakcs and threats. That is to say we manage this way of doing things without the proverbial thought police suspending us for saying things at are "politically incorrect" on other sites and WILL get you suspened there - not here. Here we do a pretty good job of listening (well, reading really ha!) to what you have to say and then commenting or responding thoughtfully and honestly.
There is bound to be content here with which you disagree - that's cool. Just respond to it with your own thoughts and opinions - no one is going to attack you or mock you. Your opinions will certainly be challenged from time to time but no one is going to call you names or threaten you. Not here.

Greetings, and welcome to the IDW community.

You are not alone on that thought and the fear that goes along with it, the political left has become quite radical, and cancel culture has become their religion so to speak. I don't have alot of time at the moment to go into alot of detail, but if you are no longer comfortable with what the left has become, maybe you might be interested in learning about Libertarian views, which are a mixture of both political sides. You'll like it here on IDW, the conversations get most interesting at times.
