How does he "Kow-towing" to our enemies compared to Mr. Apology tour Obama? Pooping on our allies? How?

Even though TRUMP 2020 is a codified Megalomaniac mostly all great men are to an extant. I think his military school and age makes him more of a patriot than many. I think he really cares about America, but also himself. When he was watching a classic Upper East coast middle Atlantic state patriotic parade I noticed him trying to hold back tears.

I agree with part of what you say - he is a megalomaniac, and so much more. But the part I don't agree with is your comment that he cares about America. He cares about himself first, then his immediate family, and then his supporters and sycophants. He admires loyalty, but only that which is directed to him; he's quick to fire experienced diplomats, scientists and environmentalists who have had decades of service and have been loyal to this once-great country.

It's clear in the early stages of the pandemic he chose to downplay it, hoping it would go away because to this greedy egotist, the stock market is his metric for how good a job he's doing. Kow-towing to America's enemies and shitting on our allies does not reflect a great love for America.

I get your point. But just as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) was shoved through Congress in Dec. 2017 without careful scrutiny and analysis, McConnell's Senate bill was a sham from the get go. It was not designed to meet the needs of everyday Americans. The whole purpose of the relief bill was to provide liquidity to people who are suddenly out of work and can't meet their next rent payment. It is NOT a blank check for Mnuchin or Trump to divert funds to corporations and themselves - without any accountability or scrutiny. The GOP has shown itself to be self-serving and anything but in favor or the average American worker. You can bolster the supply side of the equation, but if there is no demand due to unemployment and poverty, the major beneficiaries of the bill will be the corporations, just like the TCJA. A day or two of delay to get it right is not unreasonable. As the saying goes, if you don't have the time to do it right the first time, when will you find the time to do it right the second time?

That is one reason I am not a REpublican. With the advent of Socialism especially, I think they are a doomed party. People will not put up with it anymore. The whole party is about ringing cash registers nothing more. If not for the Idenity politics which many detest, I think the Demos would and could get a lot more votes. I'm a conservative populist or put another way. An American.

@johnlondon

I think there are so many labels out there that it's hard to detect someone's position on a topic just by their self-identify. But the more labels one applies, the clearer the picture. A right-wing, anti-abortion, 2nd Amendment, Christian conservative is most likely (like 99.9999%) to be GOP. Someone who is liberal, pro-choice, and supports background checks for guns is most likely a Dem. But use any one of these labels for someone and it's more difficult to determine where they stand on other issues.

As far as the covid-19 response, this is a very bad time to be playing politics. I think Trump's wanting to get everyone "back to business" is both irresponsible and dangerous, but it's politics and his own-self interest that motivates him.

@JudyMack

While I agree that getting people back to business is good, getting sick and contagious people back in circulation is bad for them (because they need medical attention) and bad for others with whom they come in contact. It's simply bad public policy in a misguided attempt to resuscitate the economy. I don't share your opinion about our president; he ignored and downplayed the contagion as a "flu" because he was afraid of what eventually happened. He's putting a band aid on a cancer patient and telling him to take 2 aspirins. The "christmas ornaments," as you refer to the Dems' efforts, was to strengthen the bill in favor of people who need it the most - unemployed workers who drive this economy. Injecting accountability into a massive spending bill is not an "ornament," but a necessity... especially given the self-dealings of tis administration.

@JudyMack

Judy, you're right. I should have realized that Trump's dismantling of the NSC pandemic task force was a brilliant move because the small investment in science was a waste of money that could otherwise line the administration's pockets. Trump advised to treat coronavirus "like the flu," and it's way under control according to his news conference. Frankly, I don't believe a word he says, but I hope you're right. His income from Mar Del Lago, his hotels, his golf courses are all suffering. Let's get back to work and prevent this loss of capita so he can remain the pseudo-billionaire he claims to bel.

Hillary is history - why do you even bring her up? She was a defective candidate from the get-go, and probably the only reason that Trump won the electoral, but not popular vote. I was by no means a Hillary fan, but I do have undying faith in American values and principles, the Constitution and the balance of power, all that I see terribly and frighteningly at risk under this administration.

Have a great weekend! (seriously!)
