Breaking news: White House, Senate reach agreement on Coronavirus stimulus bill-
[redstate.com]

Early Wednesday, a negotiating team comprised of Sen. Mitch McConnell, Sen. Chuck Schumer, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, incoming White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, and White House legislative affairs director Eric Ueland announced a deal on a “massive stimulus package they hope will keep the nation from falling into a deep recession because of the coronavirus crisis.”

I’d rather see responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, than redistribution of the next generations’ entire paycheck to increase the fat of the spoiled people who got us into this foolish state of owing $24T. How about making government loans available and asking local churches and charitable organizations and rich politicians to step up and help. I don’t believe the foolishness of “Orange man bad” or never Trump, but I would hope he could do better than the continued policies of throwing borrowed money at every problem that arises. He’s better than that.

The religious communities and the wealthy should be stepping up more, I agree.

@spiketalon: I believe they will, but not as aggressively as if the Pres had used the “Bully Pulpit” to call for their involvement instead of jumping to the nuclear option of using $2T borrowed from our posterity. This is the first and only option ever offered by the Legislative branch; throwing money (without a clearly developed plan) at problems doesn’t need to become his legacy too. He’s better than that.
