Minnie The Moocher (Betty Boop cartoon)
This cartoon was supposedly considered politically incorrect due to underlying racism and potential drug references. So what do you think, politically incorrect or not?

On behalf of BLM and ANTIFA I declare white straight men breathing as racist.

I think adding “Politically” to the words correct or incorrect is BS ... and the people who do it are BS as well.
“Political” whatever is simply Socially Acceptable Hypocrisy ... a Lie by any other name ... remains a Lie.

As a side note, I have several renditions of the Hi-De-Ho Song by Cab Calloway and have seen him perform it live a dozen times at least ... frankly, I like some of his other work better ... (Reefer Man) ... I don’t recall ever having seen this one and never so young ... !

Thanks for posting it

Pathetic ! More lefty virtue signalling by attacking anything popular in the past under the microscope of Modern woke bullshit, BTW the song is by Cab Calloway

Unfortunately allegations of racism are now so commonplace and the term is so abused that my first reaction is here we go again. My second is to switch off and move on. At one time I would have considered whether something was inappropriate. Nowadays I don’t care!

In the day when Betty Boop was a "thing" it was considered very risque because of the thinly veiled depiction of sexuality and use of marijuana and alcohol.
Few people if any at that time voiced objections based upon depiction of negative racial stereotyping.
Anyhow here is a link to a good article written on the topic of judging past works through a lens of modern codes of morality. [washingtonexaminer.com]

One could certainly argue that the Boop character was a sexually charged one...

It was brilliant and apparently Minnie liked coke, lol

@MaskedRiderChris simple, just listen to the lyrics again - I found them quite revealing.

Racism often is just a leftist code word to hide and cover and delete the truth. It is a forerunner of Cancel Culture and the onus of anti-free speech. Blacks fostered Jazz, Rock and Roll and of course Rap. I have been a musician but can face reality that all of these music forms had overall negative consequences for the culture. All are drug related and the death toll is staggering. If we put as much effort to combat these things instead of a virus, we could have saved many millions of lives. Black culture is Sensate, of the senses. European/American culture not so much and that is why they copied the blacks music/dance culture starting with Josaphine (sp) Baker and before, because whites did not have the moves and were inhibited morally and in many other ways. And that explains all of the abnormal social and cultural content that the left referrers to as racism but really is just a juxtaposition of two cultures that in effect are like oil and water. White man can't jump is a fairly recent example of this mentality.

I'd assume those accusations would have been made by an opposing animation company...I can't imagine who exactly that might have been though
