From a young age my parents taught me that no matter what job, what title or what education level you may have NEVER think you’re better than anyone else. Everyone has their own strengths and weakness and I should always remember that. My parents were far from what anyone would call elitists and raised me and my brother the same way. I have lived that way my entire life, I don’t judge people based on anything other then their actions and how they treat others and there are many that feel that same way, thank God.

But the sad truth is, not everyone is raised that way, their are some people that build their lives around titles and jobs and degrees. They believe that those things somehow make them superior to those that don’t have the same. They will take every opportunity to tell you about it, even if you don’t ask. They somehow think those things bestow some magical ability, that they and only they have. I call that “ narcissism “. Recently I had a run with someone like that, during a somewhat heated conversation I was yelled at and told , they had a degree on their wall and that made them right and me wrong. Needless to say I was shocked , because I knew deep down inside that’s how he truly feels about people. Then almost immediately, a wave of pity washed over me as I thought about his statement more , I can’t imagine how insecure one must feel about themselves to say something like that out loud. I didn’t respond, after all what can you say to someone that thinks that way? The conversation went on and after awhile I was siting alone still thinking about the person and what he said. After a few moments I remember how I was raised to treat other people and how thankful I was to have the parents I do. And as I turned the lights off and headed to my room the words of Mr. Plato echoed in my head “ Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something. ” Yes I read Plato, not to bad for someone without a degree on their wall huh.

Yes, but what is THC? Thanks

@dmatic Tertiary Higher Certificate?
No idea...

THC The psycoactive ingredient in cannabis

It's a joke.

A play on Venkman's "I have PHD's in psychology and parapsychology" bit in Ghostbusters.

Such a dry board.

Well said. I have a degree in some drawer somewhere. The first job I had after finishing university was as a farm labourer: digging holes, shearing sheep, fencing, picking up dead beasts to go in the offal hole, and going home at the end of each day stinking and exhausted. It was a good job.

It never ceases to amaze me all the names and titles people associate with. No shortage of 'ists', 'isms', and 'ives' in this world...
