The problem is not the recognition, But the automation.

Allow me to explain, If I can, Lets assume that "Job" (any refererence to Jo B Might not be accidental) is a bit strange, and decided to be radalised to such a degree, that he becomes a person of interest to local law enforcement. So a lawful trace is initiated.

Job visits a baker for a roll, no real interest, then he walks around a school ...hmmm, Maybe a target, Past a shopping mall, where a street fair is held each weekend.... Hmmm maybe ... Then he talks to a known associate - red flags are raised, then a Third. Active evidence collection mode by the AI managing this ... and so far its all good, Then as Job moves off, you recognize Job as a former military colleague, you inquire as to his well being, and he briefly talks to you before moving off, The AI does not recognize you, but, makes an association, with the last 2 known targets, and decides to monitor you. You walk through the mall, where you will be helping at the school stand this weekend, and pace out how big the marque will be, satisfied you walk to the same school he waled past before and go to the office, to make sure everything is ready for the weekend fundraiser.

Bingo - Known associate - Person of interest flag just got added to you. Welcome to the world of AI surveillance where humans only get to clean up later.

Yes we humans make similar mistakes, But tend to recognize other indicators that make us aware of the red herring earlier ... Unless we are looking for evidence to impeach, in which case emotion removes all logic from the brain. ... But I digress.

Beware the over reliance on Cheap 24 hour AI to replace Humans with experience and gut feelings

That technology could definitely be easily abused.

Definitely true. It could also potentially cause unintended consequences with misidentification, or a slew of other unfortunate scenarios.

Great tool with great potential for abuse. Hacking, stalking, spying, etc... are some potential vulnerabilities
