I am not particularly familiar with US politics, but I know about people, and what matters most is that the "liar" is eloquent and appeals to the needs, wants, prejudices and fears of the individual, demonstrates that "Hey! I'm just like you". Don't people unwittingly vote for liars all the time? Isn't politics a hot-bed of dishonesty?
