George Orwell wrote 1984 as a warning, But it has become the instruction manual. and sadly there are few left who see the evil that is coming.

Think how much is already in place, and how little is left to build.

The Ministry of Peace

• Responsible to make sure there is always a war, so people feel the need to support the party.

The Ministry of Plenty

• Limits resources and ensures that everyone has the same, no-one has enough, so they remain dependent on the party,

The Ministry of Love

• Monitors your every move, Finds political dissidents and torture or re-programs them.

And to keep you in the right manner of thought, We have the thought police, checking to find the wrong sort of thinking.

Only those who are outside the system, The Proles (about 85% of the population) have a form of freedom, as the party slogans state: "Proles and Animals are Free" but they are also kept poor and ignorant and do not truly understand their own oppression. They enjoy football and beer and fight with their neighbors. And they aspire for little else.

As its title suggests, George Orwell's 1984 is set in the year 1984, although it is published in the year 1949. This is significant because Orwell wanted to imply that the events of the novel took place in the not-so-distant and potentially realizable future. In other words, the novel Was meant as a warning to the Western world about what could happen should they allow governments more and more power, particularly as it relates to language. - No Wonder they Fear this one book

Although England was nothing like Oceania in 1949, Orwell feared that they were heading in that direction, particularly because of harsh censorship. Orwell believed that language should always be free from government rule.

The party's three main slogans, seem very relevant "War is peace" refers to the idea that by placing the nation in a constant state of war, individuals are motivated to ignore their discontent with their government, thus ensuring an unending domestic peace.

"Freedom is slavery" refers to the fact that absolute freedom can easily lead to a life pursuing pleasure.

"Ignorance is strength" can be understood as being similar to "ignorance is bliss." If one is not concerned with truth, one's existence assumes an unreflective contentment.

The erosion of rights, of speech and the rise of surveillance is not unrelated.

Google, amazon, Apple Microsoft, Facebook, Twitter .... etc are the Proles - Cheap spies that throw you information for a few favors, and in return are free from scrutiny,

The party is of course Government, and the Justice system is the Ministry of Love; Deciding who has the "right values" who is "Fixed" and who is removed.

The media, Under the ministry of truth, changes words and facts in small ways to ensure that everything they predicted was right, (International Fact Checking Network ???) even when wrong, and then creates the enemies, so we have someone else, Not the party, Not Big Brother, to blame for all that we feel we have lost, and then gives us two minutes of Hate to vent that anger at the wrong enemy. They invent an enemy, and invite us to throw our rage at that instead.

What we need is the freedom to state that 2 + 2 = 4 and then when we can have an independent fact, one the political elite cannot own, then we have freedom. But facts are being replaced by opinions, or "openness to the idea that ...."

If you do not see the warnings, and oppose them, then one day you may loose the right to speak in a forum like this, and maybe it will be you writing in a secret diary, wondering ...
