"Freedom Summer" on American Experience PBS on June 24, 2014.
In 1964 "Freedom Summer" happened. It was being carried live on TV and The woman Fannie Lou Hamer was called to give testimony about having been summarily arrested jailed and threatened when she tried to register to vote.
Lyndon Baines Johnson (DEMOCRAT) was POTUS at the time. Being the racist that he was Johnson called a press conference at precisely the same time Ms Hamer was to give her testimony. Johnson did this because he feared what Ms Hamer might say and he knew that a POTUS press conference would "PREEMPT" the live broadcast proceedings of the so called "summer of freedom".
Johnsons underhanded and flagrantly racist motivated tactic was foiled - Ms Hamers' testimony was recorded by news cameras and reporters (gee, imagine that - news media doing its job!) and was rebroadcast numerous times across the spectrum of News media outlets - major television news broadcasts, radio etc.
The point I am making with this post is the irony - the tragic irony that Black Americans STILL think the Democrat Party is their friend today. It is NOT. The only thing that has changed since 1964 is that the "news media" has switched sides. They support the Democrat Party at the expense of all of their so called "protected classes" - Blacks, women, gays etc. Unless members of these "protected classes" toe the Party line they are first, attacked by media and then ignored by media as much as possible. SHAME - Shame! on all those who call themselves "Reporters" today in 2019

Taking over the traditional media was a very smart strategic move by the left. So was their takeover of the education system. I am surprised the powerful Conservatives in North America have allowed it to continue. They must be able to recognize the success the left have realized with this tactic, it's so obvious.

Conservatives don't have the power to change a lot. Conservatives are a pretty small group. The middle of the road Republicans are afraid to take on much, because they don't like it when people call them names. It is just a mess until enough people understand the problem to change it. Luckily, because the media is a market driven entity it has changed because of the success of Fox and the internet driven media giving conservatives news they seek. Many Universities and colleges unfortunately are government funded to a substantial degree. They government has a say in how they operate or they lose funding. Privatizing higher ed by making them depend upon private donations would go a long way in helping this problem.

@JimbobNE When I mentioned Conservatives I meant the wealthy ones. They need to invest in the information industry heavily. We do not even have a Conservative based television MSM news program in Canada and only one newspaper company. I know these industries are a poor financial investment and are a dying industry but the investment has to be based on a bigger picture than financial gain. As for our education industry, same thing. Conservative investment in educational institutions could help control the left wing propaganda, along with legislation to control the behaviour of educators.
