If they stole the money then they should be held accountable for their actions. No magic blue suit. The municipality should provide appropriate insurance, representation and time for defense preparation. In some cases perhaps the jurisdiction should take the place of the defendant. But, in all cases, illegal behavior should be punished.

This ruling is bad for a law abiding system and, if it holds, which it won't, will drive a wedge between us and our employees who protect us. I look forward to Clarence Thomas's opinion when he tosses this extra judicial garbage.

Good cops should be cherished and bad cops should be spurned.

I don't hate the police but I never forget they'll be the ones trying to enslave me if those "in charge" deem it to be necessary.

Cops are accused of all kind of things, the key word in this article is "ALLEGED"!!!!
I have served many search warrants and seized cash, drugs and all things related! If I did all the things the SUSPECTS accused me of, I would be a lot better off financially than I am today!!!!!!
I don't know the inside details of this case, nor do I know the people involved, but IF the suspects are right then we are getting the kind of officers we deserve.
With the ANTI-COP atmosphere today, you will not get the intelligent type of people in law enforcement that should be doing that job.
We use to say P.I.G. stood for Pride, Integrity, and Guts.
When I talk to the people who use to work for me, I am told that officer being hired today do not meet that description, be careful of what you wish for!!!!!!!!!

We need private police forces in which the citizens could hold officers more accountable for their actions. Not all cops are corrupt, but over the years many officers have been found guilty of corrupt acts. Regarding the story above, I don't care either way, I can wait for the final verdict.

@SpikeTalon And what makes you think different people would apply for these PRIVATE FORCES than apply to be Police Officers???
Private security on the social media sites works so well, Private Forces would be the same!
PC is the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!
And what percentage of Police Officers are corrupt compared to any other profession?????
Yes I believe those numbers are going up also, but whose fault is that?????

@Serg97 That's not the point, and with private police forces there would be less spending. Regarding corruption, that could go both ways...

@Serg97 Police unions have gotten too big, and spend taxpayer dollars like crazy.

@SpikeTalon Have you compared the salary of a street cop to any other profession??? And yes it is a profession!
This profession runs in my family, me my brother, two cousins, and an uncle, going all the way back to the 1930's, and none of us got rich. Most of the time we were the lower end of middle class.

@SpikeTalon How do you figure a private force would be cheaper? You still have to pay the guys doing the job and now you add the CEOs and all the support people. Plus if you decide you do not like the company you are dealing with, you get to go to court to break the contract!
