Is hate an addiction, like that found in drug abuse? I believe it is. The media and much of the left appear to be addicted to hate. They put on their show as if they have compassion for people, but reality is quite different.

I refuse to acknowledge addiction as a disease due to its choice component. People choose to abuse drugs, and therefore become addicted as a result of that choice. No one chooses to have cancer. The good news is, the addict, can choose to stop, and either deal with their problems themselves or with the aid of others. One can not, simply choose not to participate, in the case of cancer. Thus my issue with addiction being called a disease.

So too, we see the same behavior with hatred. People obsessed with hating the President and his supporters, never realizing he was duly elected by half the country, just as previous Presidents. They strive to find opportunity to bash, and belittle all he's accomplished, despite their own inability to do the same. Then oddly enough, another psychological phenomenon adds to the insanity, in the form of projection. They'll claim the President and his supporters are divisive. Lol. Both the President and his followers are all pretty busy enjoying the prosperity that's been created, while left wing hate groups are trying to destroy property and claiming to be triggered by a hat. Much like drug abuse alters perception of reality, so too does the addiction to hate.

Now, many have pointed out, and rightfully so, my abrasive view of Democrats. Often confusing this with hate. I don't hate Democrats at all, and many of my friends are Democrats. I simply find nothing redeemable in the ideology. This is the party of the KKK, that fought every effort for equality, that now shifts tactics and divides everyone into groups to create the "us vs them," battles all in an effort to maintain power. Power is more important to them than all else including freedom. We have only a fraction of the freedom we enjoyed 50 years ago. All so we can adhere to how a few, think all should live.

The hate party, hates freedom because its diametrically opposed to control. We can see it in everything today, from smoking bans, to speech control on campuses once slated for critical thinking.

The hate addicts, flow from one hatred to another, in a desperate search for validity of their hatred. Always negative, and always thinking themselves superior. So much so, they turn in and attack their own. Even negative people hate negative people.

Wouldn't it be something, if we could see someone doing, something, we may not care for ourselves, but accept that they are free to enjoy it so long as its not harming others? The key difference between the left and the right, as I see it, is imposition. One wants to impose its view on everyone for control. The other wants to let everyone make their own path, so long as it does not impose on others.

Like the drug addict, nothing said or done, will change the haters view, until they themselves decide to change. Which is evident in the endless challenges I get for merely having my own opinions. They'll get upset that my view does not adhere to theirs, as though they have been endowed with superiority that dictates how others must think. They are free to think how they like, I don't really care, one way or the other. In the end, they are only trying to convince themselves. My only purpose in my posting is to organize my thoughts, and create discussion. No one will change their opinions based on mine. However the discussion created may offer new ideas that prove useful to someone. Who knows?

At bottom, The left does not believe that they HATE. They are too full of virtue for that. They think they have a Jesus type love for the sinner. Conservatives! They have a "Struggle Session" (see Google) to cure you as you have a disease.

Leftist thought can be changed. That is why the left in it's very foundation is afraid of FREE SPEECH>

Per Andrew Klavan, "Hate is the Devil's cocaine." I think you are right on.

There is no such thing as "just a common man." In the eyes of the Framers and Founders, as is central to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, the Common Man is as Sovereign as was the King of England, and the Common man is the depository of the wisdom of the Free Citizen wherein the Founders and Framers intended the power to of the governance of us all to reside.

If you have not done so, read about the Sons of Liberty, the Common Men of Boston, and read the Federalist Papers that laid out and debated the arguments in newspapers, specifically for the Common Man, that lead to the writing of our Constitution.

Also, if you're interested, check out Youtube for info by Stephen Hicks and Jordan Peterson about Marxism and Postmodernism.

I agree with your assertion that hate is a primary driver of the Left. And, I agree that hate is a component of their psychological dynamic. I also agree that addiction is not a medical disease. However, as a freedom-loving Right-Wing American and Constitutional Originalist, who is also a retired psychologist who was trained and worked as an addictions specialist, among other things, I can say that addiction is definitely a disease.

Addiction has some similar characteristics to physiological disease, but it is primarily a psychological disorder with some physiological symptomatology, and often a physiological chemical dependency component. Addiction is a psychological disorder. It's not a choice to have it or not, but it is a choice to seek and accept whatever help one feels is needed, and it is possible to recover form addiction fully. One is not to blame for one's addiction, but an addict is fully responsible for his or her addiction...no one else can be.

Agreed, nothing said or done will change the views of the hate addict. But it can be useful for those of us having to live with their bullshit to understand more about how their psychopathology works...what might be at the root of it and how to live in a world in which such people exist...and, unfortunately, vote.

The Left is mentally ill. They are like members of a cult that believes so absolutely in the manipulative delusions of propaganda brainwashed into their minds that they are incapable, given their immature psychological development, of emancipating and freeing themselves from the cult.

The cult they are members of is currently called the Democrat Party. But it has it's beginnings in Marxism and Postmodernism. Marxism most people know about. Postmodernism is a philosophy that basically says there is no Objective Truth (which means there is no God)., that every personal and subjective opinion is a separate truth in and of itself, and that life is a struggle between those who are oppressed by the truth of others and those who use their truth to oppress others. This fits together well with Marxism, which says that life is a class struggle between between people who have more personal wealth who oppress people with less personal wealth, so there should be no such thing as personal wealth. Therefore, both Marxism and Postmodernism justify any means, including force, violence and mass murder as a means to eradicate the Oppressors and maintain power over them. They don't bother with the logical understanding that, if your philosophy is one of gaining and maintaining power, you have to oppress others to do so.

Historically, what happened is that the Russian Intellectual Elite Marxists who lost the Russian Revolution fled to France. There they were taken in by the French Intellectual Elite Postmodernists. The American Intellectual Elite, which included many Communists, who were deluded by the teachings of the French Postmodernists were college and university professors. They taught our high school and elementary school teachers and indoctrinated them with their Marxist Postmodernist bullshit. Those teachers taught or kids in the uS who were the counter-culture and hippies of the 50's and 60's. Those counter-culurists and hippes infested our culture, including our school system and government. They are the the generations that changed the Democrat Party form a party of Classical Liberalism to Progressivism and Marxism. The Democrats are in the early stage of Marxism, which is Socialism. As Vladimir Lenin said, the goal of Socialism is Communism.

Knowing all that background stuff doesn't change the fact that the US Constitution will be discarded and the US will become Socialist, then Communist, if we don't act proactively against the Democrats, but it does help us plan strategies and tactics to defend our Constitutional Republic and crush the Marxists and their sick and violent ideology.

As Benjamin Franklin answered when asked what the Constitutional Congress had given us, "A Constitutional Republic, IF you can keep it," we have to be vigilant and willing and ready to act decisively...and we have not yet shown that we are vigilant and ready to act decisively. We are mired in governmental bureaucracy created as a result of the Supreme Court's slow transition of power form the Sovereign States to the Federal Government over centuries. This was the greatest fear of the Founders and Framers. The Left knows this an has exploited as weakness in keeping the Right on the defensive and enmeshed in procedural and legal bullshit. As a matter of fat, it has been the Left's intention all along to move power form the States to the Fed. They're strategy is working.

The primary advantage we have on the Right is the Constitution itself, but we have to be willing to act on it before it's rendered powerless.

GREAT POST. I've been in the addiction cure game also and remember years ago when they tried to make it a "disease". So that they could hook up to big time Federal Funding. In my life I lost friends, never made many drug friends and being an individualist never went along with it all. My father was a Marine who gave me disipline. How I did not give in to the substance abuse weakness is amazing and it has took down many of my family members. I believe it is weakness promolgated by the left for over a half century now. Go down a muddy road and see how all the cars and trucks go thru the same muddy track taking a chance on getting hopelessly mired in the mud, when just steering your own path next to the muddy track and you are high and dry explains it.

The problem I have with the hate I've seen the left display is it grows. Like an ink blot running, ruining a picture.
Too far right is another story that likely fuels that hate. Hate doesn't see its destructive ways.

I liked your comment...Much like drug abuse alters perception of reality, so too does the addiction to hate.
I'd suggest hate is what the NT calls darkness. Not much light. Can't see what's up. I wonder if control wouldn't be a logical consequence of darkness. Lots of fear in darkness. Everything's out of control. Isn't hate irrational, thus out of control?
And the pendulum in USA now swings to the pit. Many want in, into the pit.
Some writers said there was a growing depression and despair in USA by many. Of course, seeing drugs as some kind of relief will lead into the pit for some, or many.
Jesus taught love, not easy to do, in the heat of disagreement, but the answer to it.
The sad tendency is thinking I am the answer. That is a tough area.

In the main, I agree with you. Hate is used as a pejorative for whatever idea one has that goes contrary to the dominant paradigm of the left. If you have moral reservations about homosexual behavior and other perversions, you are homophobic and a hater. If you believe in the rule of law and the Constitution, you are considered an anti immigrant, etc.

Good stuff, sums up much of what we’ve all seen. It seems many people join that “hate” side due immaturity and laziness...if we’re mature enough to be confident in ourselves, then we can be tolerant of others...also, it takes effort to research all sides of the issues instead of being lazy and buying whatever the “news” media are selling. Many Washington elites appear to believe that they deserve to be “in power” and may be afraid to relinquish their control over others. Lots more in here...

I think you’ve painted the Right as being more libertarian or classically liberal than they are, or historically have been. The GOPs the party of drug laws, anti birth control laws, anti porn and prostitution laws. They want control! In foreign policy it was GOP willing to kill hundreds of thousands in some foreign country to save them from themselves. The GOP gave you Iraq 2003, though they had no connection to 9/11.

GOP and libertarians DO intersect on pollution. They don’t “get” the idea of externalities. Both are stuck 200 years ago where there was no problem most places just pooping in, or dumping in, the water supply. Or 100 years ago when nobody cared what went up the smokestack. “Beautiful clean coal”

Sorry but too crowded today for that thinking. Quit having 6 or 10 kids.

I'm afraid I'd disagree with your assessment, not due to accuracy, but to perspective. The birth control laws pushed by the religious faction of the right are consistent with creating equality for all. They are speaking for a child that cannot speak for themselves in the battle for that childs equal chance at life. That said, I see abortion as impractical to outlaw, as desperate people have already demonstrated that will do desperate things, when it was illegal. If it's to be done it should be done correctly. But it remains a poor substitute for conventional birth control methods.

As to porn, we see the same thing. Combating the exploitation of women. Again trying to give them an equal chance. For several decades this exploitation went as far as 13 year old girl drafted into the industry, which in most cases lead to disaster. Today we see this very same mentality presenting it dichotomy in the for of the "me too" and other feminist groups. After decade of pushing promiscuity, suddenly they're mad that men noticed. Again a poor substitute for self control.

As to wars and GOP body counts, the historical record simply doesn't support that notion. Any nation that engages in war will both have a create casualties, regardless the party affiliation of the leaders. However, to attempt to paint the GOP as warmongers is media spin devoid of reality. Democrats were at the helm for the WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam, while people point to Granada, and middle east conflicts to make the absurd claim of GOP warmongering.

The notion of the climate change hoax, is a control issue is placed squarely on the left and is laughable at best. With eight known ice ages recorded in ice core samples, their was obviously prehistoric SUVs roaming the earth eight time prior to out conceiving such a divice, to create the global warming the melted the ice. In an ever changing universe, that like it or not man is a part of, blaming man for natural events, is liken altering a beach with a single grain of sand.

As to your last statement, I only have one child, but the birth rate in the US is actually to low. This is a difficult thing to address without sounding cold hearted, but fortunately my heart was removed years ago. We cull heards if other species, via ranching management and hunting quotas. No such thing exists to keep man's population in check, beyond, conflict, epidemic, or natural disaster. The population of this rock, has doubled in my lifetime. More testament to our low body count.

Now we're seeing suicide rates go up exponentially. I think its possible, that trend will continue. We have a multitude of things at play, from over coddling, to people who are offended by where the sun rises, but another factor may well be a natural compensation taking place, since we've learned not to kill each other so much, while beating more diseases.

I don't know that there is any validity to that concept, but I wonder at the possibility. Who knows?

Just a common man's view.

Abstinence is your answer.

@dmatic No. Why do think that?

@Babou You think the world has too many kids.

@dmatic World population is growing too fast, but abstinence is not a realistic answer. Contraception works well, as Europe had shown.

@Babou Every baby wanted. No unwanted, unloved, rejected babies. What a difference. A fetus begins to know, feels, reacts.
Before 8 weeks, the mother shouldn't be forced. She knows if this is her call or not.
Hitler's mother wanted an abortion. A better world for all if she had.
Stalin was a fetus, then a baby. Not every baby is good, wonderful.
Some are bad stuff genetically.
Why everyone can dictate to the woman doing it is nonsensical.

I can't help but shudder at the times we're moving into. Looking at China's moves, making military islands in the China South Seas. Everything I see spells world takeover. So families, babies, where's the future?
To me it's laying low time.

do a simple web search on the effects of giving in to your negative emotions. you will there is a lot of literature on the subject of the "habit forming" dynamics of emotions of fear, anger, hatred.

I think you need to define “Hate”.
What’s being passed off as “Hate” currently is not “Hate” ... it is simply overt over-reaction similar to a “temper tantrum” and, as it gets praise and approval and ... “clicks” ... like any temper tantrum, it gets more and more out of hand.
Hate exists ... and it exists with very good reason.
The pants wetting, foul mouthed, hair on fire, screeching is not “Hate”.

Thanks for organizing your thoughts. I like the way you think...and in answer to your question, is hate an addiction....? like drug abuse... Interesting. Hate may be the most dangerous drug out there. Maybe one starts out with just a small hit of hate, like when a teacher seemingly belittles you in front of the whole class...and so one imbibes a little and learns that by judging the teacher as being wrong and hating her, he feels superior, which is also addicting I suppose. Soon, iot takes a person more and more hits of hate to
