Something interesting happened. In one my college lectures today, my professor said to write a paper related to climate and said something unexpected. She said that the paper must involve critical thinking and that she is aware that students don't believe in man-made climate change. The instructor also said that she isn't one of those professors who penalize students for thinking for themselves and reach their own conclusions. She thinks that it is weird and wrong that SJW professors penalize students for not agreeing with with idea that climate change is done through human activities.

I was amazed knowing that this professor not one of those types that wouldn't accept critical thinking papers as a completed assignment. After class ended, I complemented my instructor and carried on doing stuff throughout the day.

Very rare to see someone who welcome's open minded works. Not to say others don't but she nailed it!

This is what university-level teaching ought to be! Critical thinking, Yes, but she should have required you to include evidence from external sources which were ALSO evaluated to estimate their liability to bias. If only conservatives were as militant at liberating universities as the Commies are at conquering them!

As a lay person all you can say for sure is that the establishment climate community has manipulated data for political reasons and the models always seem to over estimate warming. On the other hand I have only run into one person who isn't a climate researcher who actually seems to understand the science and he says 1 degree Celsius of Anthropogenic warming is possible. The average person will say 1 degree is nothing but the average is 16 so that is a significant 6 percent increase.

Climate is always changing. I don't believe that population is a problem, and I don't believe that we will become over populated. I found the mouse utopia experiments very interesting and relatable.

Since it appears that you and I might be on the same page with the global warming / climate change scam, I'll be interested to see how the teacher grades the paper. This isn't only an sjw issue, it's also a religion to these people.

Witness the idiotic Democratic shitshow last night on CNN. The planet's climate has always been changing. Do human activities impact this? Of course they do. But many other non human activities impact it is well, such as cow farts, if you believe the religion.

The one thing I do know is Mother Nature is a very harsh teacher. The lesson comes after the test. All we can do as humans is try to honor her and help her now and again.

Global population
This is a difficult issue. It raises questions about morality, and causes stress in everyone who studies the issues.
There are two diametrically opposed points of view; Emotion and intellect.
I’m currently examining the rigorous, intellectual, scientific, dispassionate side of the issues.
The Christian side of me is all about love and compassion and peace on earth. With 3 children and 37 years of marriage, I am really conflicted on the issue of abortion.
Global population has doubled since I graduated from High school in 1972. It has quadrupled since the industrial revolution.
Consensus in the scientific community puts the sustainable population at between two and four Billion people.
History has shown that natural forces will control our population if we don’t.
Global warming, WAR, disease, agricultural pestilence, over fishing of the seas, pollution...
People consume natural resources.
Global warming, world fisheries depletion, air and water pollution and the rest of the problems we face are a direct result of having twice the sustainable population.
Clean water efforts, sanitation, inoculations, better health care, increased agricultural food supplies and distribution have lowered the death rate of children and allowed more of us to live longer.
More of us have sufficient income to enable every family member to own an automobile, TV, Computer, smart phone and the other perks of affluence.
We don’t fix anything now, we put them in landfills and manufacture new.
Robotics and computers have driven the supply of consumables up and their cost down.
Global economics is dependent on population growth.
America’s (the developed nations) immigration problems are the result of the incredible success of capitalism and population stabilization. We enjoy the highest standards of living on earth.
Media saturation, shows the billions in developing nations what they don’t have.
This is the issue behind the one world government movement.

That is pretty pessimistic. I would not say your pessimism is founded in a whole bunch of correct information.

@ObiRonMoldy & @David42

Well I'll mention a few things.

  1. He implied, at least I took it that way; that he has a Christian world view. I realize that most Bible thumping Christians in America think the world as we know it will end some time soon and there will be a second advent of Christ. I totally take issue that as the go to expert on that subject. The Bible's end time prophecies are about the end of specific nations and ages. Not the end of the world. There are no prophecies in it about the end of the world as we know it. Quite the contrary in fact. It fairly straight forward prophesied a great age of promise to follow an age measured by four empires named and therefore dated in its prophecy. (Dated beforehand I might add too.) That era ended in 1453 AD when what had been the capitol of the Roman Empire since 333 AD, Constantinople was conquered and the last Roman Emperor killed. Then just as it prophesied. The free world that has been expanding ever since started to take form. From the very beginning of the Bible until the end the Bible. It prophesied of about this age and the free world that never existed in the history of mankind. It also prophesied of the great warfare that would unsuccessfully attempt to stop it from growing. As we have certainly all seen that. But with all that; it talks of everything imaginable as far as good stuff accompanying a more moral, freer and wealthier world due to the influence of the Gospel, the Bible and Gods invisible government. So if he is a Christian I take issue with skepticism about the worlds future. WWIII and a billion dead people will not stop the growth and expansion of the free world. It will just be a set back and the bad guys will not win the conflict. If something like that were to ever even happen. So that is one thing. Here is just three chapters of that good news prophecy if anyone is interested.

Second is the issue of global population. He stated scientific consensus that the planet could only support 4 billion. The consensus of academics that he is calling science has already been proven wrong. Not only are we sustaining a population double that. The wealthier we become the more we are able to live sustainably. And the world is becoming wealthier. It takes big time and disposable income to be able to do this. Right now 2\3rds of humanity are dumping their raw sewage and toxic industrial waste, not to mention their garbage directly into the air and water. It really is an environmental disaster. But the wealthy western countries have ceased to do this. Why, because we have the wealth to build three stage sewage plants that dump clean water back into the water. Our particulate emissions (air pollution) are so small they can't be measured against he earths natural particulate emissions. And we are just getting started on cleaning up our mess. Need more wealth and with that we will do much more. All those developing countries that are doing all the polluting are exactly where we were at 100 years ago. We simply did not have the wealth to do anything and we raped the environment just to survive. So the answer for the environment forward is exactly what the USA is doing. Mortality, freedom, the rule of law, sacred property rights and the creation of wealth. Then people will stop destroying the earth to survive.

Not just that but wealth brings natural population control. No wealthy nation on earth but Israel is producing enough children to even replace their population. Takes 2.1 children per female. China 1.5, Europe and Russia 1.5. N America 1.7, with newly arrived immigrants 2.4. India 2.1 and dropping. Central and South America 2.1 and the trend is downward. Only Africa and the Middle East and the trend is downward. They will be joining the rest of us very soon. Japans population dropped by 1 million last year. In the next century their population will go from 120 million to 80 million. And they are one of the biggest offenders in international agreements to not over fish. By the way they are having a tremendous struggle growing their economy with a dwindling population.
Global warming is a socialist con job. It driven by a fake religious belief that economic prosperity is destroying the planet. When economic prosperity is the salvation of the planet. That is the goal of the movement. To stop economic growth. We got a tiny little taste of that during 8 years of Obama.

So that is why I called it pessimistic. The God who told us the future and wrote it in his book has been 100% right so far. The book can be trusted to be right for the foreseeable future based on its record of the past. The free world is growing. Real science as opposed to fake science is making wonderful unimaginable strides. The world is getting better not worse. Less people are in poverty. Prosperity is growing. The world is being educated. The information age will have as much positive effect on the worlds as the age of the printing press had. Bible based Christianity is growing like it never has in history. Just wait until it awakens once more to the prophecies in the Word of God about this age of promise. You will see 100's of millions jump back into the game of making the world a better place for everyone. Now I am not talking about putting on rose colored glasses about the future. There is a lot of pure evil going on. Its just not ruling the world like it use to in perpetuity. Lives have to be changed. People have to be educated and become personally responsible. Some evil has to be just plain old defeated. Politically and in war. What I am talking about though is the trend. Which has to be viewed in centuries not decades or years.
.

@ObiRonMoldy "I disagree that Christianity is at the root of global warming theory, if that's what you're implying, except that we should be good stewards of earth."

No I didn't mean that. Don't remember what I said. What I would say is that socialism, totalitarianism, even good old fashion paganism is at the root of Global warming theory. All of which are opposed to Biblical political ideology and Bible based Christianity in general which obviously teach we should be good stewards of the earth.

"Science is what's recorded steadily increasing temperatures. Climate is changing. We are seeing the hard evidence. We have more cat 5 storms yearly by this time in the year than the past. We are seeing glacial melt, sea levels rising, while we see, what is it, 77k fires in the Amazon so far this year?"

I don't think any of that is true and if some of it was a little true. The worlds climate is always changing. Always getting warmer or always getting colder. I have been debating this with people for over two decades. I remember when I first got hooked up to the internet in 1996. You could view the NASA satellite pictures of the ice caps and the yearly records. All those years that the northern ice cap was shrinking. The southern was setting records. Meaning. The reason it was a bit hotter in the northern hemisphere was a cyclical tilt on the earths axis. Here is a photo of a graph of what I was looking at. I mean if they not even going to look at the big things, or don't know to look into them. Things like solar activity. The distance between the sun and the earth. The cyclical wobble of the earth on its access in relation to changing weather patterns. Then what business do they have in changing public policy that will cost trillions of dollars?

"Mankind is part of the climate change equation. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we are the reason for it. I'm merely saying we contribute."

I don't know. We certainly create heat islands with our trillions of tons of concrete cities. Particulate pollution certainly has an effect but the wealthy nations are not dumping particulates into the air any more. But CO2? I don't think we produce enough that the world can't use it up or compensate for it. Or that even if we were. That is not a good thing rather than a bad one.

"I agree that education and being responsible are necessary. Take steps to be good stewards. I don't think Christianity is anti prosperity or business. But it's anti irresponsible business, like burning the Amazon to develop it, for example, but that's common sense."

Yep. Christianity; totally moral\responsible pro business and prosperity. Big time.

"I'm opposed to the GND. It's stupid and reckless. But the concept of supporting clean energy is not anti business or anti prosperity. The GND takes everything too far and appears to me to be about making a lot of money for different people, not protecting the environment. We don't need to devastate travel to support increased reliance on solar, wind, and nuclear power (which is omitted from GND and evidence of a power play, pun intended)."

Good! Plus there is the ideological or pagan religion aspect of it. It's purpose is to stop economic growth. Because that is what they believe will save the planet. If you remember the planet earth series. The last segment was interviews with scientists on what we have to do to save the planet. If my memory serves me correctly. Which it may not. Some of them said stop population growth. One said depopulate. All said stop economic growth. That is the madness of the myopic academic world. The only thing that has allowed some nations to live reasonably sustainably is wealth. Wealth and disposable income that allows them to pay for environmental sustainability. BECAUSE IT COSTS A LOT!

@ObiRonMoldy on the website? The humor is a bit beyond me.

@DanMartinovich It took several Millenia to get where we are. The standard of living for the vast majority of earths population is at an all time high. Nutrition education and sanitation mobility life span, pretty much every indices is on the rise. Crime disease war infant mortality disease are on the decrease. Earth is the primary casualty.
Positives can even be found in that. Trees are being planted and cover ever increasing amount of earth.
Media thrives on propagating fear, distrust, pessimism, and rancor. Turn off the media and turn on the relationships. Get out and go do and the world will magically get to be a better place.

I hope she has tenure

1

Maybe she wants to know who the skeptics are.....

She mentioned that she has had students who wrote about climate change occurring in nature and the man made version. She made a point in class that she values independent thinking and that the goal in to write a paper that shows that you put thought on what you think and know. Regardless, I'll be vigilant but honest.

Let’s hope your professor is not setting a trap for those who don’t follow the PC line.

While she was talking to the class she was sincere. So far she hasn't struck me as the SJW type. No indications as of late. Instead, I'm getting a regular professor vibe from her. She seems chill. I get what you mean though.
