The most striking thing about the piece?
—-It isn’t that NYT views anyone with reservations about immigration policy or feminist politics as “far-right”.
—-It’s isn’t that they elevate an undefined “far right” to threat level, but make no mention of the ISIS recruitment videos that actually drew troubled young western youth to Syrian war zones.
—It isn’t even the NYT’s own relentless leftist message, or their hiring of unapologetic racists like Sarah Jeong.
What strikes me most is that a major paper is promoting the idea that any speech which dissents — no matter how subtly or slightly — from dominant progressive dogma, is dangerous and must be shut down. It is an odd position for a newspaper in a free country.

I'm gonna stop reading the article now. I have to believe that the NYT has been caught shorting the truth and instead of coming clean they are doubling down on their own lies. There is a truth and there is a penalty for everyone that moves their life away from it. Do not follow the NYT to their chosen doom.

Anyone who spends a fair amount of time on YouTube, including myself, has gone down algorithmic “rabbit holes.” It can be quite fun — and quite bizarre at times. No harm done. Amusing.

But the leftist (elitist) perspective on human beings is that they are helpless, hapless victims susceptible to ideology, that they must be protected from certain ideologies, and that they must be ruled by an ever-aggrandizing state to be good SJW boys and girls.

The NYT knows it has ultimate leftist “authority” and that it is the eminence gris behind the leftist state. This wretched article is its shot across the bow to YouTube to behave in a proper leftist manner.

Subservient YouTube, and others, will comply with this directive soon. Watch for articles on changes in algorithms. They will happen.

The NYT and you believe it?? I think the biggest difference between the baby boomers and the millennials is that we boomers were taught to think for ourselves. We didn't grow up with a 24 hour news drama team, you got 30 minutes local and 30 minutes national mostly and we were smart enough to know what they were saying. Today they turn a two sentence media story into at least 2-3 hours of never ending opinion. I don't believe in shooting the messenger. I think that if one is feeling "brain washed", then one should work on their own critical thinking skills. With that said, I suggest you take a look at Chapter 6 of Mark Levin's new book " Unfreedom of the Press" where the NY Times and its dismissing of the Holocaust is discussed. BTW, his citations are numerous and from a plethora of historical documents.

Trying to blame it all on YouTube isn't going to make us all go away. I have always held my position on every issue since becoming politically aware. The 2016 Presidential Election changed the landscape for all of us.

I feel the msm have been attempting to brainwash me all my life but my real world experiences have taught me a lot and they are totally at odds with the liberal left view. I would say that 'right leaning' is just that.....right! That is why Jordan Peterson is so refreshing, he explains how conservatism is rooted in the human psychology and that is why we have to be 'brainwashed' into liberalism, superficially attractive as it might seem it does go against our basic nature

I think all advertising is brainwashing, it's not a matter of "if" but "when". If you think your not affected, you probably are. I make a habit of checking where my ideas are coming from and I catch myself getting pulled in different directions on a subconscious level all the time.

I also get bombarded with information that is always pushing me further in the direction algorithms think I can be influenced. It drives me nuts because its rairly quality information. I try to focuse on what I know and not take anyone's word as anything more than face value. People are profit, advertising is acquiring profit and profit always comes at a cost.

Intentionally or not, conspiracy driven or not, we are basically living in a huge test environment where they are converting our energy into their wealth. "They" being the faceless masses profiting from upping viewage by as little as %1.

This is why patterns of conversation are so important to me, it's easy to see unproductive methods of communication and I think the development of our communication is shaped by advertising and algorithms more than anyone is wanting to admit. It's worse than ideologies, its shaping how you think in terms of what your brain is capable of dealing with and how it responce.

It's only when we start seeing the good and bad in everything that we can start choosing between the two instead of fighting over ideologies that make an enemy out of the "other".
