I don't know why the World Cup, or any sport events for that matter, should be used as a platform for raising political issues.

Maybe so, but you don't have to get on with politicization. Sports are to be enjoyed by people of all ages, away from all worries and problems not to mention political issues.
@Naomi I couldn't agree more. That's why I enjoy watching amateur sports. What it lacks in brilliance, it makes up for with passion.
