Is this story real? It's shocking if it is.

On Monday three days after the Supreme Court issued its groundbreaking decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Dr. Caitlin Bernard, an Indianapolis obstetrician-gynecologist, took a call from a colleague, a child abuse doctor in Ohio.

Hours after the Supreme Court action, the Buckeye state had outlawed any abortion after six weeks. Now this doctor had a 10-year-old patient in the office who was six weeks and three days pregnant.

Could Bernard help?

Indiana lawmakers are poised to further restrict or ban abortion in mere weeks. The Indiana General Assembly will convene in a special session July 25 when it will discuss restrictions to abortion policy along with inflation relief.

But for now, the procedure still is legal in Indiana. And so the girl soon was on her way to Indiana to Bernard's care.

Howdy @Naomi,

Sounds like a deliberate clickbait story, however...

Generally speaking, any sexual activity with a child under the age of consent (varies from state to state, but 15-16 is average) is considered molestation or rape and is required to be reported to Child Protective Services. I don't know how this works when both boy and girl are under the age of consent. Interestingly, no mention of CPS involvement in the article.

If the 'only' solution is to kill the baby, then a short hop to Chicago, where abortion will always be legal, is another option also mentioned in the article.

I did hear of a similar case in my town (Greeley, CO) when I was in nursing. Colorado has liberal abortion laws.

Hello Tim. In the UK, if a 10-year-old girl is obviously a victim of sexual abuse and became pregnant as a result, they wouldn't argue about whether the girl should have an abortion or not.
Hope all is well with you.
