Wednesday night (15th) Mom update for friends who pray: I had a couple good conversations with Mom today, morning & evening. She's alert and anxious to come home, but she recognizes the value of the PT. Right now they're doing one session a day, in the morning, and I suggested she inquire if they can do two daily — if her insurance will cover the cost. She still dependent on using a walker, as a cane doesn't give her enough stability. I think that might be a good criterion for determining whether she's ready to return home. Imagine, for instance, that you can make it to the mailbox and back, but you don't have a free hand to actually carry anything back to the house … because, walker. I've run into that problem myself on days when I've had to use two canes rather than one. It can be inconvenient … cumbersome … annoying. Apart from that, she's enjoyed conversations with a few more people, including her brother and sister-in-law, and she appreciates all the greetings people have posted here & that I've passed along. The medication still seems to be controlling her AFib, and she has enough energy for the day, which is good. Now, days are kind of uneventful, which makes for duller "news updates" here. But we're out of the "crisis" hospital days and into the daily grind of rehab — for however long this is going to take. Your prayers, of course, will help, and they are much appreciated. We want to see Mom emerge healthier & stronger as soon as possible, but only according to God's will and his schedule. In other news (but related), I was able to water Mom's languishing coffee tree tonight with a bucket of rainwater I found, but if someone local might feel like spending an hour visiting with me & the dogs in between moving the hose around so that Mom's fruit trees and other plants get a good soaking, that would be greatly appreciated. In the cool of the evening, of course — definitely not under the infernal midday sun. We're just not getting enough rain yet this "rainy season." But most importantly — please keep praying for Mom. Then she can come home and water her own plants.
