It becomes a problem when you can’t criticize Israel without being labeled anti Semitic.

Criticizing and out right hate speech are two different things.

If it was just a private individual not harming anyone I would say they have the right to be anti-Semitic. But the government having the coercive authority over the populace the way it does requires a higher level of tolerance I would think. We have plenty of policies in place that are anti-discrimination in nature within government run institutions for this reason. So I think I agree with you, the government does not have a right to be anti-Semitic.

Being antisemitic is bad. However, we have freedom of thought and freedom of beliefs. You can believe anything you want to no matter how misguided it is. This doesn't mean a freedom to act and terrorize people.

Actually, you can be anti-semantic if you don't like words. Anti-Semitic, though… Not so good. 😉
