Was there really a SWITCH??

Is it true that the Democrats and Republicans switched platforms? I've heard people like Ben Shapiro, Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens arguing that the Democrats have always been the true racists, to which people on the left respond that there was a switch, and therefore the Republican party became the new home of racist people. Folk on the right however argue that there was never a switch.

When and why was there a switch? If yes, how does that wipe away the Democrat's racist past? My understanding was that the vast majority of KKK members were in the Democratic party? And what about Jim Crow laws?
How is this all linked to the Civil Rights Act? And why do you think does the Republican party have the reputation of being more racist today?

On a side note, there is a similarly interesting disagreement on whether Martin Luther King was actually a Republican, Democrat, or neither.

Please be polite, differentiated and respectful.

No one ever seems to talk about the biggest party switch.
People forget the Democrats prior to the civil war were largely anti establishment.
It really boils down to understanding of history, or lack there of.

Edit: removed word.

There was no switch. Dnesh D'Souza makes a great argument against the fake history and explains well how it came to be via the echo chambers of the left. To wit, an academic makes a lying claim all wrapped up in scholar-speak, writes a paper or book, goes out and promos it, gets it in different channels of media and gets multiple talking heads quoting his bunk and soon a proposition with no merit is everywhere and accepted as fact.

He argues that for the switch to occur, it would have be at a certain point in time -- after the Civil Rights Act, to be specific, because it was the Republican party is the major pusher of the legislation against Democratic opposition. Only one Blue Dog Democrat ever switched parties, while the rest continued being Democrats, many until their death. Racial switch from the party of Lincoln, happened before and during Jim Crow, due to the economic realities of the New Deal era and Depression, not after the Civil Rights Act.

Some of the southern Jim Crow states were effectively one-party states. What general consensus (i. e. the Republicans were invading carpet-baggers) did not remove power from Republicans, the intimidation of the KKK effectively removed or converted. Every Jim Crow law was passed by Democrat-controlled legislatures, signed into law and enforced by Democrat governors. That is objective history that can be looked up and has to be ignored by Democrats.

A good deal of President Kennedy's opposition within his own party was mainly due to the fact that he did not have this southern sensibility, but it was mitigated by his vice-president who did. Said vice-president became president and from biographical accounts never repented of his racism. Therefore, the theory goes, that he, after losing the Civil Rights Act battles, morphed the strategy in a way to use the government to keep the "uppity Negroes" down by the same means used against the American Natives -- dependency.

In fact, the south did not turn solidly Republican until the late eighties or into the nineties. It made a gradual shift over 3 decades as racism became less tolerated. It embraced the conservatism of the Republican party as it lost its racism. Furthermore, it seems to have the same metro vs. rural split that others parts of the nation have -- it just has less big cities of sizes found in the coastal states.

In short, the time frames do not fit the Democratic narrative of a platform switch of the parties. Occam's razor requires us to look elsewhere for the explanation.

Big Lies -

@RobBlair Thanks Rob

You are correct, there has been no switch. The Democrats are the same as ever... they hate Republicans, as much now as they did when seven States seceded after the election of President Lincoln. This behavior of the Democrats parallels the period prior to the Civil War. They hate President Trump as much as they hated Lincoln, the defiance of Federal Law, and their disdain for the Constitution are all in plain site and indisputable.

Go into any American history book and look at the party,of almost every Senator, and Congressman below the Mason Dixon line which happened to be the line of free state and slave state! All the Democarts! All the same states passed Jim Crow laws separate but equal after reconstruction....All the Democarts! The Ku Klux Klan started by Nathan Bedford Forrest ex Confederate Calvery General(Brilliant)Democrat conceived and initiated to stop Black voters!Civil Rights legislation was passed by Republicans majority 1964!Oh and Abraham Lincoln Murdered by a Democartic actor sympathizer John Wilkes Booth Republican! All indisputable facts!

@modestMillennial One event was that the south, largely working class, blue collar started to be less racist and more concerned with Economy jobs and society in general! These were more Republican, ideas and became standards, plus the Republican party was pro-religion and the south always was into Christianity! So now you started getting inroads into once exclusively Democratic states now having Republican Senators Congressman and Governors! It was the Democrats who escalated Vietnam also, this done to check Communist expansion in Southeast Asia,These were moderate democrats though, socialist views were only coming around in any great expression in the late 60s and early 70s, mainly from Professors and War protestors, extremists at that time! The Democrats reasoning is that if your white and from the south, and believe in God you follow the narrative set by Saul Alinsky and Cloward/ Piven, and a huge number of German Socialist professors who escaped Nazi Germany from Frankfurt, all who were pro-Marxist professors and sociologists who started professing their agenda as viable! So there was no cataclysmic event or events that, triggered a mass exodus or assimilation into either party! It was subtle over time, decades! It was foisted into college curriculums by subliminal orations, and opinion to make their indoctrination here, also seem plausible! It has only been in the last 25 years that the differences between Democrats and Republican have been so diametrically opposing! There was always common ground, that they would agree on for the good of the country! Not any more! So all of this Republican racist tripe is propaganda and disinformation! Abraham Lincoln was the First Republican President, his platform was abolitionism of Slavery! Technology and indoctrination on a mass scale has also achieved faster converts and the dumbing down of our education system has also facilitated this self-loathing of Capitalism and the Republic!Fuck them!If they want to really try and take over they will be met with fury and hate!To the winner go the spoils!

@arboristly560 the women's movement played a huge role in the dumbing down education of the countries children and it was funded by the Rothchilds. To tax both sexes. And " educate" the children. Easily reseachable online

@modestMillennial There are no events now or in the past that would suggest that the Republicans were ever or now racists. It is propaganda and deliberate misinformation that suggests this. That doesn't mean that individuals were not or may not be guilty of racism, however the Republican Party is not now or ever been driven by racism as the Democrat Party was and is still today. Not one Republican has ever owned a slave. The closest was Grant who's wife inherited a slave while Grant was a registered Democrat but freed the slave prior to becoming a Republican.
