Anyone else see Yoda from Star Wars as a Jesus analog? They seem similar in temperament, and the Jedi philosophy always seemed to me to lean more towards Judeo-Christian ethics, although not in practice. The Force could be seen as analogous to the Holy Spirit. I know this sounds funny, but it seems like following in Jesus's footsteps is the path to being a Jedi. Anyways, maybe this post will at least provide a laugh or two. My posts are usually far out there anyways.

I have felt for some time that the underlying attraction for Star Wars is the code of chivalry woven into the plot. While the basis for the moral underpinning of the code is definitely Christian, I don't see any dogmatic symbolism in the characters. They are more chivalric archetype, and we as a society crave the moral certainty of that social structure. Even the supporters of permissive social norms and alternative sexuality subconsciously are drawn to the moral purity of the chivalric archetype. Even the amoral among us and the deviants recognize the beauty of the moral individual.

I allways thought aniken was more of the jesus figure, comes from nothing, figuratively and economically, dies figuratively and is reborn as a martyr....... you know?

Good point

@The_Farseer the reality of jesus is that the majority of people thought he was a scourge upon humanity....till they needed him to save them from the rest of the majority. what irony that were doing the same thing again today

No, it is more akin to Buddhism and Zoroastrianism IMO.

I can see that. Except Buddhism seems very nihilistic

There are several books that make this analogy / leap of.. faith.

Oh it's a leap alright. But so was every thought when they were original, lol

In the words of Luke (the more likely Jesus analogue), "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooo!"

Wait, Luke from the bible, or Luke from Star wars?

Definitely religious overtones, but I think that goes a bit far. A little Taoist too?

BS is this idea

Yoda is a short green alien, hardly a jew nor a Christ analog

That's a pedantic way to look at it. I didn't compare them physically. I'm wasting my time aren't I?

@The_Farseer
not at all, the subject is worthy of consideration and discussion

@DBuie One day I'm going to learn how to talk to people. Anyways, I can't help but think of Jesus as a Jedi master. Which is cool to me, I like the idea of Jedi. And the way Yoda seems so wise and friendly, yet ready for action whenever evil shows its face. This seems to fit the description of Jesus according to the bible.
