I feel immense gratitude right now. I had grandparents that experienced WWII. They taught me. I was force fed the words of Paul Harvey because grandpa insisted on silence during broadcasts. I was forced to sit through countless sacrament meetings listening to people drone on ad nauseam about their first hand experiences during depressions and wars. I am so grateful!

Today I was helping Gabe on his Poland country report. He asked "What is a concentration camp?" I was honestly confused. I said "Haven't you learned about WWII?" Tama answers "No Mom, I am in 7th grade and we have never learned about WWII. I learned about it from you. In fact, one day another student asked my teacher what the 'holocaust' is. The teacher said it is something bad and quickly moved on." I asked Tama "What ARE you taught in history?" Tama (my punkish little sprite) smiled and said she was taught all about Mesopotamia.

My heart is aching. I have lost hope for our nation. We are in real peril. I understand wanting to protect young people from world atrocities, but that is not reality. As a mind develops it needs to conceptualize the world as it really is. If you question this, then consider the devastation that would come if we allowed engineers, chemists, surgeons, and the like perform in the real world without ever having done a lab test.

I am no longer mystified by the fact that younger people are unprepared for life. Our society is making followers, not leaders. It is making victims, not champions.

As a child I learned not only about hardship, but about the strength of those that struggled through adversity, survived, overcame and found a strength that they gave back to our society. That is what gave someone identity, purpose and satisfaction in life. It wasn't the number of views, likes or subscribers. It was an internal fire that burned independent of its surroundings.

Good to hear of such gratitude. God is not far from you, friend

Spectacular.

We need to take back our schools. Insist on parental witness programs so we can track what our kids are (and are not) being taught.
Given the subversives being churned out by our universities these days....its clear there is no longer a common expectation or understanding between us and the indoctrinators who teach our kids.

As an American, you do have the option of home-schooling your children.

@jwhitten my kids have been out of school for decades my friend. I don't know if Oregon has a school voucher program.
But something has to be done. James Madison warned us about the inherent dangers of state run schools, centuries ago.

We do have a home schooling allowance....its becoming more and more popular.

@mudnducs It sounds like more and more people are choosing to use it.

What about the Holodomor? Or the Rape of Nanjing? Or the Killing Fields in Cambodia? Or the Armenian Genocide? Or Bosnia? Or the great purges under Chairman Mao? Or Shining Path? Or... the list is too long to iterate! Why do we insiste upon "remembering the Holocaust", which on the grand scale of things wasn't even in the top 10 of all-time worst? Why do we insist upon raising Hitler to cult status and giving him prominence and importance? Why HIM and none of these other people from History who were far worse? Heck Ghengis Khan would probably be a better choice for a bad guy to remember if that's what we're here doing. He razed entire cities to the ground-- burnt them, destroyed them, enslaved or killed the men, women and children, and removed their being from the map. Hitler was not a nice guy, nowhere in this do you hear me saying or implying that. And what happened in the Holocaust was terrible beyond words. But we're no longer really "Remembering the Holocaust" so much as we're perversely glorifying Hitler-- elevating his memory into some tropy uber-evil importance, and personally I think that's worse than-- Hitler!

Howdy jwhitten,

Interesting question. Many levels at which to approach the question.

You are right, there are so many instances of vile cruelty in human history. So why is the Holocaust important, or special, or worthy of emphasis?

For those of us who are not Jews, it's easy to dismiss because it's about what Germans did to Jews. But it's more than that. It's about what humans can do to other humans. It's about how a rich, cultured, technically advanced civilization can be devolved down to its base hatreds. It's about how that civilization can then act wretchedly on a scale that beggars the imagination. It is a warning for us all.

Another aspect is that, so to speak, it was caught on tape. We have the minutes of the Wansee Conference. We have blueprints, construction and repair orders for the gas chambers and cremetoria. We have the railroad schedules. We even have movies of their use. No one can deny the mountain of evidence.

I wish we could have "home movies" of slave ships or the Trail of Tears to remind us of our capacity for evil. But we don't. We have the Holocaust to remind us to be morally vigilant.

@timon_phocas Just curious-- no 'gotcha'-- how many of those (and more / others) were you aware of before I pointed them out? And to the rest of your point, pretty much everything since the invention of the camera-- and definitely since the development of the video camera and smartphone-- has been documented from a thousand different points of view, and yet we still pretty much only hold up the "Holocaust" as the one to "remember"-- and "Hitler" as the bad guy. Moreover, we all (most / many of us) know about the other great purges-- a deceptively benign word to describe so horrible and sinister-- and the not millions, not tens of millions, but the hundreds of millions of people that perished in those terrible events-- enough people to populate our planet not all that many eons ago. And yet "Hitler" is the one we remember. I would say because he gets better press-- in all aspects of the word. And as a result the real and true victims are NOT remembered, even as we give lip service and say "Never Forget"...

@jwhitten

Howdy again, jwhitten. I've been a pretty steady consumer of history since my sister got me my first library card. Since that was 56 years ago, it amounts to a pretty impressive pile of books. So yes, I am aware of the sad litany you wrote about. And some by Senachcherib, Nebuchadnezzar, and King Leopold in the Congo. And how settlers in 1860s California would ride through river and creek beds to shoot Native Americans.

Human history is largely an account of violence for the sake of wealth and power. And sometimes violence just for hatred.

So you're right, the Holocaust is not the only organized atrocity in the world. But it does act as a signal warning of how thin the veneer of civilization really is.

@timon_phocas Yes, I especially agree with your last statement (not that I disagree with the rest). In fact I think you nailed it far more in that one sentence than in all of our preceding.

@timon_phocas Yes, I think it's the facility with which this highly polished veneer dissolved that still frightens and fascinates us. How could such an well-educated, cultured, advanced nation allow itself to be high-jacked by a group of murderous thugs in such a short time? It makes us want to learn of the financial and political problems at the time and the methods the Nazis used to attain power and keep it, and how they suppressed and brainwashed the people. We want to learn exactly why and how it all happened so we can be on guard to ensure it never happens again.

Also Germany invaded many countries and initiated a World War. The massacres of Nanking and Cambodia did not. WWII involved our grandfathers, etc. - it impacted directly upon us. And, geographically, it was very close to home. There were German submarines just outside Halifax harbour, for example.

And another reason why Nazism is still an issue is on TV as I type - a story on the Neo-nazis in the US. The ideology is still alive. I don't think there are any followers of Pol-Pot around North America and Europe. I know there are still communists but in 65 years I've never met one. I have met foolish, young, uneducated, male wannabe neo-nazis. I told them to learn history before deciding to follow any ideology. Basically, I called out their ignorance. We must be ever vigilant and Never Forget.

@acadian Much of what was happening in the 1920's and 30's is happening again with (IMO) frightening alacrity. All too often we turn on the TV-- er, I mean YouTube 'cause TV only has talking heads that parrot what their globalist / elitist owners want them to say. As we watch them single out and use thuggish mob tactics to suppress free speech-- even in the heart of Berkeley CA where free speech is supposedly cherished and idolized. We see groups of organized hooligans in black-shirts running rampant beating people up and causing mayhem-- with the apparent disregard or even complicity by the police and civil authorities. We see the massive push by corporate globalists and their wholly-owned media mouthpieces to consolidate the masses and remove their ability to think for themselves, act for themselves and demand "safety" over liberty, which the corporations and the State is all too happy to render unto them. The parallels between our modern world and the happenings of the turn of the last century are as astonishing as they are frightening. And this time, they (the establishment) is even more dominant and even more controlling and even more pervasive than they were 100 years ago. The whole "New World Order" / "1000 Points of Light" stuff is upon us. How do we fight this? The time is now.

I take issue with that as well. 8 million Jews...unacceptable. 25 million Russians in gulags...much worse and more recent. There is so much to cover.

@jwhitten Your thoughts resonate deeply with me. There are so many commonalities. It seems that the most simple solution would be education. Unfortunately there is always something sinister in what is taught. I'm not even sure it is education anymore. It's propagada. And it is required. Process that. Yeah...many commonalities!

Let's find a way to fight. I am a tough fighter. I am a community social justic champion. We just need many more of us.

@Francais1331 It's not about social justice. It's about real, honest and lasting justice. I completely agree with you about education though, and that's part of the problem. The proponents of socialism and 'cultural Marxism' have insinuated themselves in the halls of education, corporate middle management, and low-to-medium level government office. Anywhere and every place they can have access to indoctrination and/or policy. They want control but have to bide their time until they can come out openly and grab the power.

My guess is that it was supposed to have all been timed with the election (coronation) of Hillary Clinton and the proclamation of the 'New Century of the Woman' or some such shit to win over the female voters, whom they considered gullible and easily duped. I think Hillary was honestly astonished when female voters outright rejected her in fairly large numbers. And for myself, I was personally absolutely gob-stopped and astonished, as in my jaw hitting the floor, when young Feminists, of all people, rejected her in large numbers. The only time in my life I have ever seen Feminists do something useful for society-- and I'm absolutely certain it was totally by accident. Only HILLARY could have pissed off Feminists bad enough to make them not want to vote for her. God, that woman is awful, a real shit-show if there ever was one.

And it's not that women are bad-- not in my book anyway. But Feminism is. And the globalists are pushing Feminism all around the world and backing it with real money and power because the Feminists are unwittingly doing the dirty work for the Globalists in their zeal to tear down men, destroy masculinity and sever the familial bond. Without men and their male power, women-- and disenfranchised men-- are much easily controlled. And they don't even realize they're being controlled. They own the media and the narrative and are giving one side the power they've craved for so long to 'rise up' and-- literally, stick it to the man-- all without realizing that they're ultimately slitting their own throats in the process.

They don't give a damn about free speech. Think back to George Bush and what would happen whenever he got heckled. As his goons were dragging away whomever hapless individual who dared to oppose him, he would lean into the mike, turn on that shit-eating grin and say "I love free speech". They don't give a shit about free speech because it doesn't amount to anything. And on the rare occasion that it does, it's usually one or two individuals and they know how to handle it. A convenient car wreck. An airplane crash. Getting suicided in the back of the head a few times. Nowadays it's even easier than that, all they need to do is pull the plug on all the social platforms and the guy is effectively neutralized. I've been warning about this for the last five years or more. People are beginning to see the truth about them and it isn't good.

There are ways to fight back. At the moment, their biggest weaknesses are legal and social. Their asses are hanging WAY out legally, they don't have a legal leg to stand on or a pot to piss in-- if anybody seriously called their bluff and hauled them into a Federal court that wasn't bought and paid for-- they would be in so much trouble they wouldn't see daylight for a century. What they are busy doing is beyond illegal-- they are trampling all over American's civil rights, blatantly and flagrantly violating US communication laws and spending lots of money to support leftist politicians who are willing to let them have their way. The whole scheme is evil and twisted-- and designed to keep THEM in power and YOU in thrall.

Their other weakness is social-- and they're busy working very hard to deal with that one by de-platforming people speaking the truth, colluding among themselves and particularly financial institutions to bring financial pressure against anybody who seems like they might have the financial wherewithal to weather out their attacks. What the heck do you think Hillary was busy saying in all of those $300,000 dollar closed-door speeches to Wall Street and the major banks? They have a plan and they're busy putting it into action.

The civil war is coming.

@jwhitten "Social justic champion" is a terrible name! It sounds like I am in the kitchen wearing a vagina hat marking up posterboards. ? I meet again with the multiagency team next week. Before we continue taking out that criminal organization that is stealing money from the elderly, I will tell everyone I don't like the name they gave me.?

People wanted Hilary because she is a woman. The reason was just as ridiculous as voting for Obama because finally a black man would be in power. People are confused! Feminists are so "pro vagina" that they reward men that get vaginas by letting them dominate women's competitive sports. Men are so eager to stick it back to women that they are literally removing their male genitalia to show they are still better. The subject matter may change, but it is the same story. People want to be recognized as they see themselves, not for what their abilities are. 10 years from now I could be in the NBA as a 23 year old black man that is 7'6" (if that is what I identify with). Liberalism lures people with unrealistic promises. My example is outrageous for now, but in 10 years it won't even be questioned. It's subtle at first.

Yes, their asses may be hanging in the wind legally, but that has NEVER been relevant when a country embraces socialism. The legal fabric of every government is severed like ribbon cutting event as the people cheer and cry that they are finally "free."

@Francais1331 I agree with a good bit of what you're saying here. In trying to formulate a reply, I think that any objections are more in personal perspective rather than actual substantive degree. I don't think people wanted Hillary so much because she was a woman-- though that definitely played into the 'arranged narrative' and likely stroked her enormous ego more than just a little bit. I think Hillary simply bought and paid for the election win and then was gob-smacked when she didn't get it.

As for the Feminism stuff-- that's a real problem. And its one that women think they're in control of but they're really not. Two things can happen-- one of them will happen, if Feminists 'win'...

  1. Feminism will cease to be a thing the very second that Men rise up and decide they're tired of hearing about it and dealing with the bullshit. Feminism does not and cannot exist without the tacit approval / complicity of men. Furthermore, Feminism requires men to be its foils and justify its hateful existence. Men, for their part, just don't like the idea of competing with a woman-- they generally view women as their partners and helpers rather than as competitors and potential adversaries.

  2. In the event that they achieve their goal of 'putting men into their place', the Globalists will drop them (the Feminists) like a hot rock and immediately work to destroy them too. They will have outlived their usefulness, apart from continuing to keep their men in check. But all of those glorious visions of the bountiful female future full of sugar plums and rainbows-- that's just a crock.

Assuming that Feminists achieve their goal, they will need NEW men to denigrate, if only to run their industries, sweep their sidewalks and dig their ditches. And that will have to come from the female quarter. Nature abhors a vacuum and like it or not, men fill an important and powerful niche. It isn't that they can't be subsumed or replaced, but rather that someone will need to fill those roles. And those someone's are going to discover that they aren't nearly as glamorous or exciting-- or more pertinently-- 'full of privilege'-- as they had been led to believe.

So the irony is that women CAN have it all-- and pretty much with the blessing of Men. Because the men know darned well that the last laugh will be theirs and it will be hearty chuckle indeed.

And while I'm focused on 'Feminism' as the catalyst (the disease), the method is via 'identity politics', 'Othering' and tactics of dehumanization. We already see that happening, and if we're truthful about it, it's the ONLY thing that's been happening with Feminism since its inception. Anybody who says otherwise is either lying, duped or knows full-well what they're up to.

And there is no such thing as a "Male Feminist", rather just useful idiots doing the bidding of their Feminist mistresses until such time as their usefulness is complete whereupon they're tossed away like a used tampon. The #MeToo movement is total proof of that as they've been busy giving their current crop of "Allies" the heave-ho in order to start fresh again with new ones. A "Male Feminist" is really more along the lines of a pig running around telling people to 'eat more bacon'.

Feminists and leftists have convinced themselves that "Men are the problem"-- particularly WHITE men. When in fact it has been men who have worked hard and diligently to build up, discover things, clear away the wilderness and put up the handrails, and generally work to protect and serve-- society-- but more to the point, women and family.

There is a reason why Feminists / Marxists, Socialists and 'lefties' in general keep targeting the men and families-- that's where the real power lies. Take that out and society crumbles and whomever can step in and fill the void is ostensibly the winner-- if, and that's a big if-- they can manage to keep it under control. They've been working at it for centuries. They keep trying over and over and over again to make it happen-- their glorious socialist utopia. And every time they try it, people die. By the millions.

There is evil in this world. And its getting close to the time when it will be necessary to rise up and deal with it once again.

The civil war is coming-- this time it's going to be global.

@jwhitten

thanks, this was a great conversation.

@Francais

Great post, thank you

The left has controlled education in our country for decades and has removed our history, the evils of communism and socialism and the good we have done. Kids are taught about the evils of America, of Christianity, of capitalism and of masculinity. Homeschool your kids. We did and are so happy we made that choice.
