Trump's continuing torrent of lies

President Trump continues to show his utter contempt for truth and the intelligence of the American people. This time, he falsely claims that windmills cause home prices to plummet 75%, the noise they create causes cancer.

One source writes: President Donald Trump continued his tiresome and inaccurate attack on wind power during a speech this week to fellow Republicans. “If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations, your house just went down 75 percent in value,” he said. “And they say the noise causes cancer.” As usual, it isn’t clear where the president got his information. Windmill noise doesn’t cause cancer, and a 2013 review of the evidence showed wind turbines cause only minor ripples in home values. . . . . Trump’s attack on renewable wind energy makes no sense. His reliance on unsubstantiated facts could damage an important industry in the state, while making the skies more polluted and water less available. [kansascity.com]

Apparently, Trump actually thinks that such easily fact checked false statements are believable. [factcheck.org] Such statements are not just not believable, they are deeply insulting and deeply polarizing to Americans who respect truth. Making such blatantly false statements evinces Trump's complete disrespect for all Americans, including his supporters.

If you're so pissed that the sentiment in his statement wasn't reflected in the laundry list of side effects of windmill farms in the northern territories of Canada, and still want to defend wind turbines, the proper answer is to bring another article forward proving or indicating that they are safe.

Not to attack a man for not being as eloquent as he could be.

Lies are intentionally malicious or meaning to distort or conceal the truth. Nowhere in any of trump's speeches since the 80s has that been true of him.

Or Trump may be the telling truth.

I live in Big Bear Lake, CA and if I were to put up a windmill it would spoil the view for me if I put it in the front yard and if in the back...

My neighbors would justifiably be upset (by the view-pollution) no matter where I put it.

To be effective they really need to stick up above the trees

The other side of the issue is that though governments say they prefer wind power they will charge you roughly twice what you would pay for a modern windmill in permit fees.

Last I looked you could get a complete windmill with tower & all for less than $1,000

But I don't want one in my yard. Behind my cabin is okay but don't block my view

Yeah, sometimes he is full of BS, but he is not here telling lies to protect or benefit himself--like Hillary did almost continuously.

Your TDS is showing again

Trump being an idiot doesn't change the fact the wind power is junk.

Its like these people don't realize that there needs to be wind for windmills to work. And the sun needs to be bright and shiny for solar. Neither of which happens enough to go fully renewable.

@Daryl

Well it's just not scalable. And even if it was, it's pretty useless without power storage, which increases the cost exponentially. It will never be more then a supplemental source, and a small one at that.

I totally agree about nuclear. It needs to be deregulated.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. China and Indea are just ramping up. We could go 100% clean energy and it would not even make a dent on a world scale. If we can invest in R&D on new nuclear tech it could make all the difference with China and Indea in the future if they adopt it.

We don't even really have to spend tax money on it. Companies are not willing to invest in it because it is so highly taxed. Lower the cost/tax and the free market will do the rest.

I don't know maybe more reseach needs to be done with the people said to be having side effects from living near windmills? Maybe Trump has better advisors then we do? Reseach reseach reseach
