Being British can we then claim from Africa the money we spent ending the slave trade for the first time in human history. Shouldn’t be to much. Only lost over 1500 sailors and for a time had a third of the navy patrolling the coast of Africa to stop it, at the time the British navy was double the size of the next 2 largest navy’s combined. Oh and all the political and economic power we used to get all the various European nations to outlaw it. D'Souza stated that not a single Republican owned a slave one year before the start of the Civil War. So would it be the Democratic party, or the Southern States that give these reparations away? Or what about the African tribes who sold slaves, captured from war and conquest, to Europeans? Or maybe Portugal, England, France, Spain, and Holland as these were the major slave transporters to the Americas.

The technical problems with reparations are insurmountable. In my mind the big problem is a return to the belief that the sons are guilty of the sins of the father. Classic identity polotics. Your individual guilt or innocence is irrelevant. The actual “victimhood” of the recipient is irrelevant. You are assigned to your group (victim or oppressor) and dealt with accordingly.
