Though most biblical stories are likely untrue, the flood has a chance of being true.
In 6000 BC the Black Sea was not connected to the Mediterranean, and it was a freshwater lake much smaller than today. The level of the lake was way below sea level. Then the Black Sea basin connected to the Mediterranean and the basin flooded. The flood took mere days.
If a large asteroid hits an ocean, the tidal wave destroys every city on the coast. Wyoming will be unscathed.
