Should illegal immigrants be treated as criminals?
If someone overstays their visa while waiting on a hearing and working their asses off like the rest of america trying to chase the dream, so be it. But they need to be in the process, to get it done and making steps in the right direction concerning actually adding something to society rather than just bring a bunch of nonsense and drama and wind up drinking and driving and running someone off the road, or walking up and shooting a woman then getting to walk because he didn't know it wasn't okay to shoot someone.
Illegal = criminal. Deport them to the back of the line. However! Fix the immigration rules so that it does not take years to get a visa, tighten up the family following, immediate deportation for anyone overstaying their visa and build the wall.
We are a nation of laws and if we do not enforce our laws and we allow people to violate them without punishment we will descend into anarchy. We need to have a solid border, a well defined immigration policy and kind hearts
Whilst I agree with " almost " all of your post the last bit tends to make me wonder a little. the " kind heart " approach is currently being used by the socialist left to excuse anything so people can get into the country. having a kind heart is one thing - but I would instead put in place laws which take direct action against those coming in illegally. After all, to show compassion to someone KNOWINGLY ripping the system off - ( when there are ALREADY measures in place for immigration on compassionate grounds ) is asking to have the hand you feed with to be bitten.
All for the sake of the Socialist leaning left who has made what you are asking for (and we used to have ) - now turned into a free for all. its the left that has ruined the opportunity for having a kind heart I suspect.
One of my thoughts about illegal immigrants crossing the border into Canada has these border jumpers put on a bus and transported as far north as a bus can take them. I'd say that's gotta be black fly and mosquito country in the warm weather and where frigid winds and snow blows in the winter. Talk about culture shock.
Unless this country has given someone permission to be here, Trespassers should handled by the executive branch, placed in confinement for a year and then returned to the border where they were found with a bus ticket to Peru. No judges required. They are not entitled to due process. The Executive branch, at its discretion, can issue certain permissions.
Only issue I have with that is the cost to the taxpayers during their term in jail.
The whole immigration system is broken. But then again you have to follow the money, especially on the large caravans how are all these people getting from one end of Mexico to the other ?
You mean Migration system don't you?
it is NOT broken. The law still exists and it should remain unchanged. The only thing broken is the will of officials and business owners to enforce and to obey the law. Stop spending money on a border wall and begin prosecuting anyone and everyone who knowingly employs and or harbors illegal aliens. Fine them, jail them...you'll see the "broken system" fix itself in very short order.
