I spent my career in publishing, now retired. I am extremely concerned about the obvious bias that enshrouds what we read and see in mainstream media today. Are the days of journalistic integrity and Walter Cronkite lost and gone forever?

Walter Cronkite?? Really? You use this traitor as an example of honest journalism? He lied through his teethe to the American population about the TET offensive and how we lost the Vietnam war that day. A TOTAL LIE. We had the Vietcong and North Vietnam army thoroughly defeated at that moment. Yet due to Cronkite's way left (and very anti American stance) we reported a total lie that swayed public opinion dramatically. He knew it was a lie and later confessed that he did it to alter America's perception of the Vietnam war, since HE personally was against the war. "It not only destroyed the Vietcong as an effective political and military force, it also, together with the siege of Khe Sanh, crippled the NVA, which lost 20 percent of its forces in the South and suffered 33,000 men killed in action, all for no gain. By the end of 1969, over 70 percent of South Vietnam’s population was rated by the U.S. military as under government control, compared with 42 percent at the beginning of 1968.

The American public knew none of this, however. Almost from the moment the first shots were being fired, skeptics of the war effort in the mainstream media, including CBS News icon Walter Cronkite, would use Tet to prove that the war wasn’t being won as the Johnson administration was claiming. They went further, representing the failed attacks on the U.S. embassy in Saigon and other sites as symbols of Communist success." [hudson.org]

Our Congress was and is rightfully blamed for our peace with honor defeat not Walter Cronkite.

I haven’t watched the MSM in many years. The internet, although a double edged sword, when trying to get the facts, is today the best tool to get the facts....but you really need to be careful and double check your sources.

When doing radio, we were told to read the news, not editorialize the news. It's all editorializing now.

Yes . You know what is funny is I watch old reruns of Jonny Carson because he is funny and the new late night shows have nothing to say but bash a president. It’s a joke . Week minds trying to indoctrinate other week minds . People want to laugh not all these lies and made up agendas.

Probably. The regressive leftist will never voluntarily relinquish their control of the social and mainstream media.

Journalism is dead. You're better of researching for yourself and making an educated decision on where you stand

Howdy IamPops,

I visited UC Berkeley in the Fall of 1970. There was a Vietnam War protest at Sather Gate. About a half-dozen people walking in a circle and desultorally chanting slogans. There was also a television crew.

That night we watched the report on Channel 4 CBS news. They had spliced together tape of the protest and the daily lunch rush (ten thousand students running through Sather Gate to be first in line for the perfect BigMac). They strongly implied, but did not actually state, there was a riot.

So "journalistic integrity " has been a highly elastic standard for a long, long time.

Howdy Timon, I replied to you but it appears to have disappeared. In short, yes, you are right. The media has been corrupt for a long time. It does, however, seem to be more prevalent today.

Pops,

If I started a publication that read as the reader was biased, I'd be rich.

Give me your knowledge, contacts.......fake news is as easy as real news.. if you know this, and have a audience, use it.

Yes, there are less than mainstream news sources that cater to biased readers.

In the last week I’ve seen a story about a gentleman not getting his tire warranty from a tire shop even though h was under the mileage guarantee.

Also seen a story about another guy who had his vehicle involved in a hit and run and didn’t want to pay his deductible and have a claim. So obviously the CBC had to do a story about it.

And today I seen a video of a group of friends pooled their money to buy their other friend a pair of air Jordons

News media has no integrity in my opinion.

Wanted to add that I do see some good articles in the local free newspaper.

Yep. Gone...

True journalism is dead I'm afraid, replaced by over-paid, uneducated script writers and biased news commentators. It is shameful what they have done to news media. Gone are the days of reporting the news without people being able to guess what side of the fence you were on. Sure miss those days!

Exactly!
