The belief in Global Warming / Climate Change is beginning to look more and more like a religion.

Although at this point, the proof of climate change theory is not entirely demonstrable, adherents to the Theory take many things on Faith. Many of them have no background whatsoever in science, so they look to their Prophets / Climatologists for enlightenment.

Their faith is broad and flexible, allowing for apparent contradictions to be transubstantiated into vindications.

Both the heat wave in the town of Heat Wave, Texas and the Polar Vortex in your shivering neck of the woods are proof that global warming is real. The Theory itself may transubstantiate within the thoughts of its disciples.

When the data fits then they revere the Theory as Global Warming. When the data is inconclusive or actually contradictory then the Theory is called by its other sacred name, Climate Change.
(Or as I'm coming to think of it, Climate Changeling.)

Unfortunately this new religion is not loath to declare heresy. If you dispute any of the claims you are labeled a "Science Denier."

So since I am skeptical as to some of the claims of climate change theory then I must disbelieve all science.

Damn, being ExClimaticated sucks.

Since I expressed some cynicism regarding some of the tenets of Climate Change, now I can no longer believe in gravity, or force equals mass times acceleration. I have become Heisenberg Certain, Planck is no longer constant, and Avogadro's Number now has something to do with guacamole. Now I can no longer use Telescopes and Microscopes and that mouthwash is starting to look a little iffy as well. Now Pi is just a dessert. I now believe that Flo's true name is Phlogiston.

Unfortunately the new religion also allows for Zealots. Alexandria Pistachio Cortex has become tantamount to a Priestess. (Judy Priestess is an okay name for a tribute band.)
This week she brought her Holy Writ / tablet of Tenuous Commandments / Green New Deal down from the mount, and presented it to the faithful, climate's chosen ones.

All shall be rebuilt in the carbon neutral image. All buildings must be renovated or razed then remade and redeemed.
Energy must no longer be Unclean. Flatulent Cows are Blasphemy. (Bovine Flatulent Blasphemy is a pretty good name for a band.) Air travel is anathema. Man shall not fly in the House of Ocasio.

This crap is absurd. When reached for comment Captain Planet said "even I am not that green."

So as we yea also transubstantiate from a democracy unto a theoristocracy Be Thee Greener Than Thou.

A tip for the disciples... when you have amassed sufficient Carbon Credit indulgences, when you can commune with The Carbon Neutral Rapture, try not to exhale a lot. And flatulence is right out.

Disclaimer: I believe that there may be some substance behind the manmade Climate Change / Global Warming thingy. But I do remain somewhat skeptical not in small part because some proponents of the theory have been caught fudging data, on multiple occasions. I am more than somewhat skeptical as to the prescribed remedies for the climate crisis, especially since thus far the non-binding accords be they Kyoto or Paris grant waivers to both China and India. Excuse me but does Chinese Carbon Dioxide not have a greenhouse effect?
