Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.No doubt someone had to explain the meaning of Memorial Day to her...but then a few years ago Mark Dice walked about microphone in hand along a beach asking people about the meaning of 4th of July - Independence Day - and sadly, dam'd few of them had any idea about its true meaning...There is no reason to believe folks ignorance about that would not extend to Memorial Day...so Kommie Harris was talkint to "her peeps" when she said "the long weekend"...she just as ignorant has her constituency...right? I think so.

When I was in school we still learned civics, including the meaning of our national holidays. Today, and for the past two decades, schools instead teach Marx and that Amerika is evil. Well sorry to bust their bubble, but Amerika is a fictitious construct set up as a straw man against which Marxism looks good. The United States of America, and all the other American nations from Ellesmere Island to Tierra del Fuego, are real and bear little resemblance to the fantasy land of Amerika.
I have lost many friends and fellows since I left the Marines in 1979. When the jihadis blew up the barracks in Beirut three close friends gave their lives due to the Rules of Engagement under which they labored. But I would never expect the former call-girl from California to respect their memory. She hates everything they died for. So as a gesture of defiance to "VP" Harris I propose a toast: To absent comrades and fallen friends. Fair winds and following seas, my brothers and sisters. We shall meet again at our posts on those streets paved with gold. Semper Fidelis. OORAH!!!

I have UK VETS in my family - many who have seen their friends killed in action in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Falklands & Northern Ireland & a few who suffered PTSD & took their own lives.
As we say here in Australia, as strong ally of the USA - "We shall remember them - Lest we Forget" and that applies to all allied veterans.

I've just watched Pete Hegseth interview four VETS on what Memorial Day means to them & the USA.
Very uplifting to hear their positive views & memories of their mates who fought with them & those who lost their lives for everyone's freedom.
I also watched a documentary on the Falklands War (1983) in which a UK Marine cousin of mine was involved. Fortunately the UK gained control of the Falklands again
