I often wonder if there is any more middle ground. Republicans and Democrats seem to be so polar opposite. Is it possible to be a Republican that supports universal health care? Can a Democrat sign off on some tax cuts? Will the two party system ever become obsolete? I'd love to see term limits for Congress and a removal of $$$ from politics. I can't be the ONLY person that gets behind these ideas.

Who's with me?

Libertarian Party anyone?

Yes, yes and yes... 😉

What we see in mainstream media does not always represent the actual whole of congress. There are congress members still working on bipartisan bills and legislation and a good bit of agreement on "things".

You're talking about the "big ticket", "in your face" items... Those have been challenging for congress for a long time, but at the SAME time, BOTH parties have had the congressional majority to actually force through their agenda at will, but haven't. So it makes you wonder, does either party REALLY want what they're saying is their hot platform?

IMHO, the two party system hasn't worked for decades (at least). I know that in the elections where I've voted, I've only voted FOR one presidential candidate. For the others, I was voting AGAINST the other candidate. In politics, power is everything and the fear of "splitting the vote" is a huge threat to that power. Any third, fourth or fifth candidate that would run with a similar platform would be destroyed by whoever has the most money.

You are NOT alone...

I agree. I usually vote against as well.
I'd love to have a candidate that I can vote FOR!
