Ok what is your opinion on the current abortion debate. As a man I recognize it's a woman's body. I also know without a man you can't get pregnant. I personally think you should not have a abortion because you don't want the responsibility of a child. I also again am agreeing your body your choice but at least do it quick. There is no need to wait 4 to 9 months to decide. I personally say I support the heart beat bill. If it has a heart beat it is a human being.

Here's a rambling of abortion points...

Obviously it's a human life, biologically and logically. It's not a duck, and it's not dead. It's obviously human life. I only respect pro-choice people who can at least admit that.

Obviously a baby's body is not a woman's body. It's inside a woman, yes, but giving birth isn't amputation. It has a separate genetic code from the woman. We don't reproduce by budding. My body isn't a "piece" or "chunk" of my mom's body that was cut off. It's a separate human body with unique DNA.

Obviously this has some sort of disproportionate affect on women over men. A man can run away from a pregnancy and a woman is stuck with it. That sucks, and is unfair. However, thinking that it does not matter to men is ridiculous. I mean it's his child too!

Viability doesn't make sense logically because viability changes based on the medical technology available. A baby may be viable in America but not viable in an African village. Do we want personhood to be dependent on technology and geographic location? That doesn't make sense. There are adults who need machines to help them stay alive too.

The concept that we cannot control people's bodies is wrong. I cannot use my hands to beat another human being to death, because the government says it's illegal. Thus, they are controlling my body. I use my body and mind to work for my money, and the government forcefully takes some of it. They are essentially forcing me to be their slave. (I am not against taxes, but that doesn't mean I don't recognize that it is done by force)

People talk about pro-lifers as if they are imposing something forceful on women. They are not. They are preventing a woman from imposing force on another human. When a woman gets pregnant and nothing is done, the natural process of the world is for her to give birth to a baby. That's what happens when nothing interferes; that is the natural sequence of events. The initiation of force occurs when an abortionist intervenes with that natural process and kills the baby. There is a difference between preventing someone from doing something to someone else, and committing a forceful act on another person.

Women aren't magical gods who get to decide what is a person and what is not. They cannot simply decide a baby is a "clump of cells" in one convenient case, and decide that it is a precious human baby full of potential and love in another.

Caring about children after birth is unrelated to the abortion debate. It is a separate debate. Abortion is about whether or not we have a right to live, even if people think we may go through tough times, and also when we are considered human. Caring for our citizens is a totally separate issue.

Abortion leads to eugenics. Is it wrong to abort a baby girl because you wanted a boy? Because it's autistic? Down Syndrome is already being "eliminated" through abortion.

How can we say that babies in the womb have zero rights? Consider a sadistic alcoholic woman who is purposefully getting pregnant over and over, and also binge drinking all the time. She is giving birth to multiple humans who are irreparably damaged for life from Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, but the damage occurred in the womb before they had rights. Is that a crime then? If the babies have no rights, then there is nothing wrong with that scenario. You can do whatever you want to the baby while it's inside of you. Unrealistic situation, but the point still stands.

Rape cases are horrific, tragic events. However, they are incredibly rare and those babies did nothing wrong and have a right to live. If I found out that I was the child of a rape, I would be shattered and horrified, but I would be happy I am alive. Because I have a right to live, despite the crimes of my parents. Let's just double down on our punishment of rapists... Castration?

This is getting pretty long. I recognize the complexity of this issue and the impact it has on people's lives, but my personal conclusions are that abortion is always wrong. Thanks for reading this far, if you did.

The false premise in your post: "it's a woman's body."

Why do you think every unborn baby is a female? When do some of them magically morph into male unborn babies? And why is it ok to kill the unborn females, but not the unborn males?

These questions are toungue-in-cheek, but they point out the fallacy of the "woman's body, woman's decision" nonsense.

No, it is not the mother's body. It is literally the body of an unborn child - it is literally a different human being. So why is it okay to kill that human being?

Dr. Levanto testimony in front of Congress - It's not the woman's body. Let's re-humanize these little people.

The abortion debate is one that may never be concluded. Once we decided as a society to cheapen sex by offering birth control, we created this moral conundrum. I think there is a moral question we should ask ourselves. Should we kill our own offspring out of convenience? If we are to be a society willing to accept that the purpose of sex is more for pleasure than for building a family, then I think the debate ends there. But we have seen that not everyone in our society can agree on the role that sex plays in our lives.
There is a vast spectrum of opinion ranging from, "what I do in my bedroom is my business", to, "sex is only for marriage and starting a family".
Society comes to accept or reject things over time. I just don't see this particular thing being accepted or rejected any time soon.

I have always believed that it was a woman's choice and what she might do with her body was her business - so long as the foetus was not viable beyond the womb...

with the change in legislation that allows 3rd trimester abortions? no.

Abortion is murder. End of story.

There would be no abortion debate if we valued and supported families, children properly.

I don't know the details of the legal debates, but I think birthcontrole / safe sex and what should happen if there's an unexpected pregnancy should be discussed like adults before the situation presents itself.

We are so busy taking the power from the people, I just think responsibility should be on the individuals. And I always hear men complaining about having no choice, but do you make it clear how you feel to the woman in your life? If your values don't line up then you should find someone who fits you better. And if your happy with the boundaries and understanding in your relationship then why enact your will on others?

I think its fairly reasonable to consider a law for time frame one can opt into abortion with no medical reasons, if people at large could agree on such a compromise. I personally don't feel it's the same as murder, but I can respect if other people feel that strongly about it. I understand that viewing such an act as murder would make their willingness to compromise an admirable attempt. I'm not really sure why we have to fight for all or nothing.

I guess the problem I see, is the abuse this would kick up. When one side offers there reality up for debate it leads way into a battle. For instance I could very well see woman getting imprisoned in Hope's of holding her past legal time frame. This is an extreme case, but the fanatics, and the sociopaths would be getting a message that their entitled to womans bodies.

I duno, I personally would be fine with half way, I don't know where that line would be drawn. But I would definitely worry about the intentions of others and the unintentional backlash that could happen. There are already naive girls out there being taken advantage of, why not start fixing that problem befor feeling like you have to criminalize the results?

Its a womans body. It is her decision. But in the past the whole its a blob of cells was used to "cleanse" it. The idea of aborting a baby as you are delivering it is absolutely outrageous. And to leave an aborted baby born alive to suffer and die, no that is just wrong on way too many levels.

With respect, Betty... first you say "It's a woman's body. It is her decision". And then you say aborting a late-term baby is "outrageous". Sounds to me like you want it both ways. Aborting a baby late-term is still a woman's decision, yes?

Abortion is one of those topics in life that stir emotions to the max. I'm not thrilled with abortion procedures, but still understand you cannot monitor every pregnant woman in the world who would be inclined to having an abortion, that's just not reality. When I talk about the abortion debate, I'm reminded about another emotionally charged debate... the gun control debate. Just as surely more gun control legislation will not deter criminals due to the fact criminals have no regard for the laws, it doesn't matter how much abortion control measures are passed as desperate or determined women will still seek out doctors who are willing to perform an abortion procedure or take things into their own hands (which could be dangerous). The sooner everyone realizes that we cannot control what goes on in a woman's body, the happier society might be. Just my take on that.

There are some things in life I have no control over, and I am at peace with such regardless if it's something I agree with or not.
