Intrigued by the concept "intellectual dark web" On first glance, sounds ominous and sinister. But closer (not that close yet) examination reveals a community of similar "misfits" rendered invisible both within and without academia who believe, strongly, that the truth is the only path ( PhD 2007). Yet, one's conscience precludes compromise on principles which others see as "stupid naivete" on my part. C'est la vie. How to fight back and get a platform, even a career, in academia and publishing when one doesn't conform to the party line that grows more absurd by the day! Thank you for letting me vent.

Thank you. Just hope this site doesn't morph into another facebook and/or Linkedin (where I used to contribute). Worried about self licking ice cream cone scenarios!!
I'm pretty sure the name is intended to be ironic. Seems like you have a good handle on this platforms intent. Welcome!
Thanks "Think"! Kindred spirits here as "sapere aude" is my only motto. As to the handle, actually I have always lived life as such hence being persona non grata in academia, esp here in the US!
Welcome to the community.
Thanks Spike Talon!
Don't know if others will agree with me but "I" do not consider myself a misfit. My problem has always been the really WEIRD people who have attempted to inhabit MY world!
Phoenix, kindly note the quotations around misfits. Perception alas is reality for most and as such those of us who refuse to bend and/or act like dazed sheeple are condemned as "misfits" or much worse.
@Damnthetorpedoes Actually I did notice the quotation marks.
Not only did I notice them but I immediately knew what you had travelled through before arriving here. I was making a joke about how I learned to deflect that sort of treatment while keeping my sanity.
