I remember reading this in 5th grade. From a textbook. It was discussed in class. I wonder if anyone under 40 was ever exposed to this at any grade level up to 12?

School was more focused on making sure we got high grades on standardized tests so they would get more funding during my time in high school. We had 2 classes each year specifically focusing on test questions that might be on our exams.

Yes, I read it in my junior year in HS. Excellent story, albeit a disturbing one. A movie was released in 1995 I think.

I saw the movie, but I prefer the story. Vonnegut's style just draws me in. It made a BIG impression on me at the age of 10. This should be required reading for everyone.
@Blackraven Oh yeah, the story was far better than the movie was, and also got me thinking deeper about what could lie ahead in the future for humanity.
@SpikeTalon precisely. I remember thinking how lucky I was to have this peek into possible future.
Never thought I'd live to see it.
