I know this was a few months back, but what are your thoughts on Nike endorsing Colin Kaepernick? Do you agree with Nike's move?

It matters not to me who Nike pays to advertise their product. I don't buy their products

They have the freedom to choose their spokespersons. I have the freedom to disrespect their choice and to shun their brand. I’m glad their sneaker recently blew out on a college player. May they harm their bottom line just like dicks sporting good‘s did.

It was a marketing decision. I doubt there was anything nefarious involved.

One thing I am noticing though, which I am very suspicious of is companies marketing value systems, or marketing to value systems. Starbucks does this, Nike tried to do it with Kaepernick, and now Gillette with their infamous new ad has done this. It is worrying to think of values and morality to be dictated to us through Companies, and from our consumer products. I suppose I just have a dark imagination, but the last thing I'd want is for my choice of toothpaste be an endorsement for or against a particular set of values.

I agree with you on that.

I didn't see the big deal with all of it. So what if he protests, that is what this country is founded on. Everyone can speak up if they feel a need and Nike just wanted to make money on the situation like any business would.

Totally agree. We are a capitalistic nation and Nike took advantage of a great opportunity.
