Recently in US news there have been quite a few examples of police brutality, some of which were caught on camera. Do you think it's a useful thing for police officers to wear body cams, and if so why do you think so?

Yes, because body cams protect both the public -and- the police officer. Over the last couple of years we've seen instances where body cams have exonerated officers who were being accused of heinous crimes.

If I were a police officer, I'd be demanding a body cam. How many instances of false accusations against police were refuted due to the body cam. I think it's more for the officer's protection than for the public.

Body cameras are small, inexpensive and pretty reliable these days, they could save a lot of money currently wasted on frivolous lawsuits.

Cameras only tell part of the story. In most cases, they are useful to construct context for a particular event. Sometimes, they can even be tools of exoneration. While they are certainly useful, they are also very limiting, and potentially misleading. Personally, I believe that they should be considered as a factor in investigations into allegations of police misconduct, but they should not be dispositive unless the video itself is clear and convincing.

I think it’s a good idea, the police started wearing them and more often than not it shows the problem is with the citizens and not the police. It is also helpful in determining if the officer did his job according to the law, so yea, good idea.
