Thoughts on alternative energy sources versus fossil fuels? I'm all for other energy sources, but think it's a poor idea to completely abandon fossil fuels as some politicians have proposed.

I am old enough to recall the alleged "gas shortage" of the 1970's. Carter had us well placed to ween ourselves gradually off fossil fuels before Regan was elected and undid all of the initiatives. I think we could drastically, if not completely replace fossil fuels tomorrow. We have had, and repressed, many technologies that would help us to do this... But then there is the whole "Petro Dollar" thing. So it has been verboten. ...Maybe once we get rid of the Fed and fiat money we will be in a better position to do so.
