Spring Equinox today.
I love the arrival of spring. My dwarf cherry called Kojo-no-Mai (dance on the lake) is looking pretty. And this is what spring sounds like in English countryside right now. 🙂

Howdy @Naomi,

When the wind howls
and the ice growls
Like an enemy in the night,

When the cold gnaws
like wolves' teeth
Waiting cold to bite

Oh how we wish
for Spring's soft kiss
And the touch of bonny May

But outside still
where frost is king
The icy winds do play..

BTW, the forecast for Colorado is for another blizzard.

Howdy @Naomi,

I'm trying to remember it rightly. It's been awhile, so I keep editing it.

@timon_phocas A lovely poem. 🙂

This was lovely, I might return to it again. The closest I got to nature was I spent the first afternoon of spring with my son building a raised bed garden in our back garden. The first day when I could feel the heat of the sun on my shoulders. Thirty two square feet, I hope, will double the production of tomatoes!

Hello there. I feel blessed that places like this are on my doorstep. I very much appreciate seasonal interests.
There are many English countryside videos on YouTube.

@Garsco This is my second year growing tomatoes and basil. Last year the crop was so tasty, small yield however, the family of course has encouraged doubling the cultivated land. I only do my best while I wait to see if God gives us a bountiful crop. How many square feet do you have for your ten plants? Here in Toronto, one does not plant until after the first full moon in May.

@Garsco Ten plants in 16 feet, wow! I was thinking twelve in 32 square feet. I need to re-think.

@Garsco I had a dyslexic moment, 32 feet, same as mine. Thanks for your input and may we have a great year for growing!

@Garsco I am envious. I planted my plants this year on May 15, having watched the long term weather like a hawk, crossed my fingers and had a back up plan if frost was in the forecast. So far, I have 19 good looking plants, 11 in one 32 sq. ft. bed alone. I don't expect anything for the salad bowl until the end of July. Thanks for asking. This stuff is a mild addiction eh what!

@Garsco You almost sound smug as you describe your garden. I too have considered composting for the same reasons. I think sometimes that in another five years, I too will have doubled and doubled again the square feet of raised beds. Yeah gardening!

@Garsco One who gardens must be a scientist!
