Democrat Party shift to the far left...

I’m not a US citizen - but follow US politics. I would vote Democrat and think that Trump is appalling. Just to get that out of the way
However, I think there is a risk that the Democrats could throw away the next election believing their own bubble of identity politics and associated issues and alienating much of their potential voter base (who turned to Trump last time).
Whilst it may excite the base, I struggle to see anyone declared as a “socialist” ever becoming president of the US. That said, I never imagined how Trump could be elected - so what do I know...
The US primary system with the appeal to the “base” rather than the masses does unfortunately bear some of the blame for this radicalisation - and hard to see it getting better with the social media (and MSM) fan bases whipping each other up
My only hope is that enough of the Democratic base understand this - and what they should be choosing is someone who can beat Trump and nothing else - but my concern is that we all believe that everyone should be excited in what we believe and that a more radical and divisive candidate will accordingly emerge
Andrew Jackson ran on a platform of “fighting the aristocracy” with the irony being he was IN the aristocracy, his “kitchen cabinet” was made up of prominent racists who also held the role of chief editors at major news publications, he weaponized the post office against abolitionist press... in other words, they’ve really always been far left... with the advent of the internet it’s just harder for them to control the narrative. Does anyone really think FDR’s popularity was natural and based on his policies and not a result of new media (tv) propaganda in his favor?... I truly feel the veil has just dropped
