I think the current idea of privileged is flawed. People and circumstances are far more complex than the current dialog addresses. I am a white, male, straight, Christian, with above average education. However, I graduated late from high school with a GED, went in the military so I would qualify for the GI Bill to pay for college, worked low paying jobs to cover my cost of living while going through school, taking 7 years to get a degree, and after 3 years, went back to graduate school that I paid for myself as I worked full-time during graveyard shift. There is nothing special about me, but I did not receive any handouts for being a white, straight, Christian male. I was told early on I would never make it through college. I think I went to college to stubburnly prove them wrong! It doesn't matter what our circumstances are in life. What matters is the direction we move from where we are.
There is simply no way that 25% of people are more privileged than me...
