Calling all January 6th capitol assault apologists: why should the capitol assaulters receive any less of a sentence then the Puerto Rican Independence people who assaulted the capitol in 54?

I would like them ALL to be prosecuted.
Those that protested Capitol Hill and those that spurred them on.
Those that participated in BLM protests and every one who spurred them on.
I would like to see every politician prosecuted who called for protests that turned violent over the past four years for every reason.
I would like to see the media journalists prosecuted who misrepresented the news who led to these protests.
And I would like them to be judged and punished according to their crimes, irrespective of their political affiliation.

Think that is what ever going to happen?

@TheMiddleWay
Exactly.
We have had months of protests that include violent rioting, arson and large scale theft and almost no prosecution.
These riots were condoned by politicians and the media. The message for those inclined was clear.
You can protest and even be aggressive and nothing happens.

Those that refused to prosecute those earlier riots and especially those that condoned and encouraged it are very much responsible for the Capitol Hill protests.

They created the concept that protest, even violent protest is a valid course of action.

Prosecute/impeach them right next to Trump.

@TheMiddleWay

Pelosi also asked why are there not daily protests against Trump. Maxine Waters, looked at her comments?
And you ignore all the others, the mayors and governors that supported or refused to act on protests.
CHAZ existed for weeks which was actually sedition.
Police were actively told to stand down.
Remember let’s defund the police?

Trump also called for peace and asked the CH protesters to go home. Trump condemned violence literally hundreds of times.
Only president not to cause new wars in decades.
Only president in many more who actually forged peace accords in the Middle East.
Yet you call for his impeachment and prosecution?

Naming a few instances calling non-violence and ignoring the actual actions they took, does not help to understand cause and effect.

Actions count, words not so much.

I don't know anyone that DOESN'T think trespassers shouldn't be prosecuted. I certainly don't think 50 years is reasonable under the circumstances.

ARMED with what? Signs? Flags?

The Capitol had few security protocols at the time, and the four Puerto Rican nationalists entered the gallery armed with handguns. Around 2:30 p.m. they indiscriminately opened fire onto the House Floor and unfurled a Puerto Rican flag in a violent act of protest meant to draw attention to their demand for Puerto Rico’s immediate independence.

Those guys (and gal) were intent upon physical harm - they shot down onto the floor of the House with guns. That is attempted MURDER. Now, there were MAYBE 3? who suggested physical harm - they should be treated harshly. If it can be proved there was some INTENT.

Given the fact that all the charges were dropped against the 218 arrested during the violent protests of the 2017 Inauguration....

I EXPECT, but know I will not get, severe punishment against the guy that shot the unarmed protester.

Anyone that brought a gun into the Building, should face harsher penalty....but I am unaware of ANY such accusations (from a reliable source in law enforcement ON THE RECORD).

@TheMiddleWay And those pipe bombs were planted the night before Trump's speech and the rally.

INTENT. Were they Concealed Carry Permit holders? I get that the building is a public firearm free zone and that should be considered in any charges - but INTENT to do bodily harm? JUST having a gun is not evidence of such...

@TheMiddleWay Were those examples of words from those that had the guns? I know the two women that were video taped wanting to go after Pelosi were not carrying guns (or at least they weren't when arrested - because the video was posted AFTER the fact, and they were arrested just last week. No one knows who put up the graffiti. So, taking one set of statements actions and painting them onto a different set of actions is not evidence of intent. And the statements themselves are not evidence of intent - though usually sufficient to suggest so in court. It usually requires physical evidence that in SOME way supports it. But threats to public officials are taken (and should be) seriously.

I doubt all the statements by BLM and Antifa protesters were given the same weight....

Hypocrisy at its finest.

Who's looking for "sentencing guidelines"?
Precedent, or "case law", is bullshit. It's just a copout for lazy prosecutors & judges.
If this idea had any merit, then there are hundreds of "#MeToo" supporters who stormed the Capitol for the Kavanaugh hearings that need to be locked up first.

Overhyped political grandstanding. Self righteous indignation. Insurgency? Looks mostly peaceful to the average "not woke" American. No reasonable and prudent person is buying the Pelosi style Democratic/Socialist spin on this especially after all the destruction, assaults and killing over the summer. The double impeachment doesn't add any credibility to the argument either.. We all saw that the the bully got punched in the face and went crying to his momma on Jan 6. Now 25,000 troops have to protect the Prez. on the inaug., with 5,000 remaining indefinitely. DC at DRF 1 until Biden gets the boot. That sends a clear message we all should take seriously. Woke or not.

1983... I need not look further. One of the perps in this is now a BLM executive...

1967... I need not look further. I was around when this went down.

@TheMiddleWay Lots of arrests and lots of charges have already been made and filed. I'm not sure what you're getting at. Are you trolling for folks who think the trespassers should not be prosecuted? In today's surveillance culture, rat on your neighbor, all Trump voters are domestic white supremacist terrorists, re-education camp environment, do you think any cogent person would publicly express an online opinion that could get them blacklisted, fired, doxxed, arrested, etc., for condoning an insurgency (their words)? This is what happens when you pull the pin on a political nuclear hand grenade. You create an auxiliary to the underground. The dumbest move the Dems was the verbal public flogging of hundreds of thousands of attendees and tens of millions of Americans who saw Jan. 6 for what it was. A mostly peaceful protest.

@TheMiddleWay Why? So you can send screen shots to their employers and if you get a juicy one, the Feds? Nah man. Nobody's biting on this shill bait.

@TheMiddleWay I just got gaslighted and cancelled all in one post. Typical dissonance. I'm moving on...
