Big Tech is unabashedly evil. Google, Facebook, and Twitter are pulling out all the stops in order to crush the competition. Wimkin won't load right now. Instead, this message displays:

"Literally 2 minutes after Jason's Wall Street Journal interview and announcing on Facebook that Google Play was removing our app, a massive DDOS attack attempt came in. We are placing the site in maintenance mode while we combat such. Please check back shortly. We'll announce when back online. Thank you for your patience and support.
Thank you."

I'm checking out different browsers.

Still have to use Google too but I downloaded Brave and Dissenter for when I'm free-wheeling through the internet zones.

[dissenter.com]

Check out Gab's Browser, Dissenter, it's pretty good.

Also, upgraded e-mail to proton mail, I'm using Last pass to keep passwords safe and I'll be switching to Starlink at soon as it's available.

I writing all of this not as a commercial but I think most people are not aware that there are options.

Let's start voting with our feet. Leave these behemoths in the dust.

Oh, Gab is down.

Good we're on Slug 😁

Have been using Duckduckgo as browser and search engine since 2018. Never looked back.

I downloaded Dissenter the other day specifically to see if Gab would run smoother on it, and it appears to. This morning Gab is up.

I've been using Duck Duck Go for years for most of my searches. I still like some of Google's utilities, and I hate like heck that they are now an Internet tyrant (as opposed to being "merely" the exploitative mercantilist bull in a china shop).

I canceled my long-time Amazon Prime membership.

I need to check out other email options (I don't relish the prospect of changing my contact data with the dozens (hundreds?) of banks, services, and merchants I do business with — on top of getting family & a wide array of friends to update their contact lists. What I don't want to do is start paying for a monthly service — I need to reduce, not increase, the number of monthly bills I have. I understand how Gmail is kept "free" — I'm an advertising target there. What I'm not certain of is how other services are offered "free."

I'm still active on Facebook, but I'm encouraging friends there to join me on any of the following platforms where I have a profile:
Here (of course)
MeWe
Minds
Wimkin
Gab
… few have. Of my friends who are exploring Facebook alternatives, the largest percentage is on MeWe.

@Wordmage try to bring your friends over 😊 As we say in Filipino English "the more, the many-yer" 😁
