I would like to see people link mainly to bitchute or any of the alt-youtubes that are out there now. the central tenet of moving away from the main social media sites is not consistently supported if every post just links back to those sites anyway. all sites have their place and i am fine with using youtube, but too many here seem to only use youtube. thanks for your consideration
The last time I saw a video on bitchute, it used the term "holohoax". Not a great caliber of content on there.
Folks should take the time to double post.
We need to get more organized.
These people stepping out front need volunteers who do that for them, post their messages on every conceivable platform.
I understand and totally agree. However, I have myself not been able to distance myself from YouTube. I hope I'm not being a hypocrite, but trying to be honest, they just can't fulfill its role. Not enough content is in there and lack so many functionalities. I know, I realize it's the price to pay.... On the other side however, as a prospective creator, it just seems to me that there's not enough people on it to build up an audience. I wish I could just give into my passion and make content all day everyday without never ever thinking about the economical side of things, but I won't lie: I live in Mexico and I have to work all day everyday to make not even enough money to make ends meet, let alone produce content without a financial gain. That's why I haven't started my channel even though I already got over five hours of content almost done. I really wish the money factor didn't cross my mind at all, but it just isn't feasible for me as video production is time consuming. I know I'm not helping here, just trying to put my perspective out there and am open if anyone has any suggestions. I am all for decentralization, but you can't be idealistic when you are risking hunger, you know? I'm open to ideas....
Good luck with that, but I think you'd have better luck combating the network effect "monopolies" of the tech companies through antitrust policy and decentralization.
Do you think it's impossible to make people care enough to act on it? I'm not criticizing you, I honestly want to know if that's what you think. I wish we could do it that way, but I am very naïve when it comes to social issues...
@A1fredo I think it is very difficult. With these online platforms, people go to the platform with the most users and creators (or other workers). That makes the networks very sticky. To compete, you need to offer something novel AND buy users and creators off (e.g. profit above the market rate, at a loss for the platform) AND do big advertising. Venture capitalists have the resources to do that, but that's a small, incestuous group.
