My first thought is the the person who penned that reply is trying to apply human terms to a divine act of God. That's usually not a good idea. God knew from the beginning that everyone would sin and deserve eternal death. It's inevitable that we will sin, and it's impossible for us to pay the price to cancel the penalty for our wrongdoing. After all, what could we possible offer? We're just a bunch of ignorant sinners. God knew this, and that's why he sent his Son, the perfect and sinless sacrifice, to pay the penalty for us. You can't explain that level of love in human terms, which is why the reply above misses the mark. Jesus didn't pay the consequences of our sins. He paid the penalty for them on the cross. Forgiveness is offered to all, but is given only to those who believe in that selfless act and confess their sins to God.

I'm hearing of literally dozens of "irregularities". Something's up, and I think people need to cool their jets so due process can ensure every legal vote is counted and every illegal vote is pitched. I don't care if it takes 3 months. Allowing voter fraud to determine the outcome of an election is unthinkable to me. It's a line we DO NOT want to cross.

coalburned comments on Nov 6, 2020:
As I've stated elsewhere, I'll graciously concede victory to Biden, but only if every legal vote is counted and illegal votes are rooted out and discarded. This is what every American should want...fair and impartial elections, per the laws of each state. This country spent 3 years and millions of dollars trying to determine if Trump "stole" the 2016 election. I don't think it's too much to ask for a few weeks to sort out this mess.

coalburned comments on Nov 6, 2020:
That's interesting. I can't say for sure that I've seen that in the churches I've attended, but that's because I don't know the elders and deacons well enough. What I have seen first-hand, however, is various forms of favoritism shown to those who are wealthy and/or successful in some capacity. For example, I personally know a pastor who doesn't invite church members to lunch or dinner unless their pockets are relatively deep.

Why was the popular vote so close in the US presidential election?
coalburned comments on Nov 5, 2020:
I know little about who funds polling organizations, what kinds of questions they ask, how they select people they poll, or how honest they are with the data they collect. So, as usual, I look at a simple explanation for why they were so far off. Think about it...if the polls were miles apart from the anti-Trump narratives the MSM has been ramming down our throats for 4 years, how would the MSM and pollsters explain that? I'm not suggesting the MSM and the pollsters are in cahoots, but I never expect the polls the MSM highlights to contradict them. I don't know if news outlets cherry pick the polls they "follow", but let's be honest....if they had focused on the Trafalgar group, they would have been much closer to reality, just like in 2016. I know....Trafalgar group had Trump winning, and he still might, but even if he loses, they had it more right than anyone else. But the MSM would never endorse a polling group that contradicted their precious narrative now, would they? If Trump loses, I can't point to the horrible treatment he's received from the media without first pointing out his failure to manage the things he COULD control....his ego, his tweets, and his thin skin. Trump can be maddening at times, but I think he got it right way more than he got it wrong.
Is Biden (eventually) going to win?
coalburned comments on Nov 4, 2020:
Sadly, it's a long shot for Trump. Highly unlikely is how I'm describing it to people who ask. The democrats got what they wanted... They took advantage of the mail-in balloting, got overwhelming support from the media, and avoided substantive issues that would have revealed Trump's strengths. Reminds me of basketball before the shot clock... get a slight lead, then stall until the final buzzer. Adding insult to injury, the DoJ efforts to indict those who treasonously tried to oust Trump will likely die quietly.

coalburned comments on Nov 2, 2020:
I don't fear anyone on the other side. I fear what their policies will do to this country. It isn't personal (or at least it doesn't have to be). The way I see it, the left wants to fundamentally change our way of life. The right wants to preserve it. Maybe I should have a more nuanced view, but to me it's that simple. If Trump loses, I hope those on the right will graciously accept that the people have spoken, and our job at that point will to speak and act boldly for the principles that made this country great. Our liberties must be preserved! If Biden loses, I hope people on the left understand that the right doesn't hate you. We want your lives to be better, just as we want ours to be better. Personally, I'm tired of living in a hate-filled society fueled by covetousness. I want things to be the way they once were...when I could sit down with somebody who has opposing views and have a decent conversation that doesn't deteriorate into ideological barbs, name-calling, or blathering sound bites heard on one of the turd-infested news sites we're all plugged into. In the end, regardless of how the selection turns out, I have to remind myself that God is what matters most to me. He will still be ruling over his creation as his plan for humanity, however mysterious and complex it might be, continues to unfold. Now....everyone go vote!

coalburned comments on Nov 2, 2020:
I'm strongly on the side of Mr. Grudem. As a Christian, I consider it my moral obligation to do what I believe is best for this country when it comes to voting. Piper's criticism of Trump's moral failures isn't misplaced, but in this case casting a vote for someone who has absolutely no chance of winning is really nothing more than virtue signaling. Worse, it can potentially put the wrong person in office, depending on your point of view... a vote withheld with from one candidate improves the other candidate's chances of winning. I could go on, but the bottom line is this...national elections are serious business where the stakes are high. Trump's behavior may be repugnant at times, but there's no doubt in my mind he's the best choice this year.

Why are you voting for your candidate?
coalburned comments on Nov 1, 2020:
I'm voting for Trump because, despite his many flaws, our pre-covid days were very good, and I believe deep down he truly cares about this country. I think Biden cares 99% about Biden. Harris cares about this country only if she can reshape it into God knows what. I believe Trump views minorities as people, not votes. And at the end of the day, which party respects the liberties provided by our constitution? The answer for me is clear.

LET'S TALK COVID.
coalburned comments on Oct 30, 2020:
I think Trump's covid response has been grossly maligned by the MSM. Naturally, Democrats will harp on it endlessly because it's all they have. Hindsight is always 20/20, and all the armchair quarterbacks out there can pontificate all they want, but the truth of the matter is nobody knew enough about the virus to make anything but an educated guess about what to do. States and local governments had the freedom to do what they thought best. Many whiffed, including Saint Mario, who wins the shame award for killing senior citizens through a brazen act of stupidity. Trump's haters will never rest. The rest of us know anything he did was a crapshoot. Heck, even now no one can agree on what the best approach is.

Are we in for a Covid-19 "Dark Winter"?
coalburned comments on Oct 27, 2020:
What exactly is a dark winter, Joe? What exactly would you do about it? People love to blame Trump for everything, when the truth is no one knew much about this virus until it was too late, and state and local governments, many of which are run by Democrats, were free to enforce their own restrictions anyway. Who knows how many cases we'll see. My responsibility is to practice good hygiene and protect those around me who are most vulnerable. I'm not an anti-vaxxer, but I've gotten only one flu shot in my life, and it wasn't a good experience. Why would I get one for covid, especially this early in the game?

I'm fortunate that I'm retired from a company that has long embraced diversity training and is on the CRT bandwagon. It's distorted, divisive and just plain evil. I find myself wondering if those who created it and those who follow it actually believe the idiocy it embraces. I would find it more believable that they devised it as a ploy, a way to further the far-left agenda and divide this country so severely that it can't be put back together. Or maybe they're just filled with hatred and self-loathing.... There's no question CRT has made racial tensions worse. No one likes to be accused of something that isn't true, certainly when it's something they have little or no control control over. Simply put, CRT breeds resentment. Nothing good will come out of it.

Why should anyone care? Is there a single one of us who doesn't take advantage of the tax code whenever and wherever possible? Do any of us intentionally give the govt more than its due? As long as he didn't do anything illegal, why should Trump be treated any differently?

If true, folks, this is a really big deal. Multiply this hundreds of times (unless you think this is an isolated case), and you get the picture. A very ugly picture.
Look, Folks, come see how flexible he is! Joe Biden can actually bend down unlike Drumpf.

Why didn't you include the pic of the person who helped him back up?

Interesting article that brings up some very good and, unfortunately, accurate points about society in all parts of the developed world. I don't know what the answer is, but it isn't an "epistocracy". The last thing we need is another elitist class running the show. The verdict on me: erstwhile-hooligan-evolving-vulcan with a propensity for cynical withdrawal. 😄

Well, it's official. Time for the fun and games (aka drama and lies) to begin. Can someone play an intro of wailing and gnashing of teeth by the Left? Ok, maybe we save that for after her confirmation.

Is it wrong of me to not care one iota about this woman and the city of Portland? Lady, actions have consequences. Get it? You don't deserve assistance.

Comments are rolling in about whether or not she's a good pic. @Admin, is the question whether or not she's a good pic, or whether or not she'll be confirmed in 2020? Both are worth exploring.

The Democrats proclivity for political shenanigans, aided by a corrupt MSM, and a GOP that is reluctant to grow a spine during an election year spell trouble for a 2020 confirmation. I look for a hard-fought Trump win and confirmation in 1Q 2021.

Pandering, pandering, and more pandering. It's the cornerstone of their campaign. Those who know the history of these two know they're up to no good. For those of you who are tempted to follow suit, here's what BLM believes. I'm posting an archived copy because their own website revealed their true intent, which is too risky to tout in these turbulent times. BLM cares little about black lives other than the political leverage they bring. https://archive.is/oARH0#selection-423.0-423.70

The media can stop giving groups like QAnon airtime when they stop giving BLM airtime.
I do not see them trying this with NBA Basketball or NFL Football somehow.
coalburned comments on Sep 21, 2020:
Blacks were well-represented in the player ranks until 2000. I don't know what changed, but there's no doubt blacks have gravitated to other sports, while at the same time Latinos have displaced both blacks and whites on MLB rosters. Here's the thing about pro sports...people can rightfully gripe about minority representation in the front office, but on the field, skill reigns supreme. I don't hear anyone complaining about the paucity of white players in the NBA, and why should we? I don't like to watch basketball, but if I did, all I'd care about is watching the best athletes. If they happen to be black, so be it. MLB might think they're on to something, but it smells like really expensive virtue signalling to me. We'll see.
BLM just scrubbed this from their web site.
coalburned comments on Sep 21, 2020:
Hahaha! Idiots. I wondered how long it would be before people figured out they weren't about black lives. I've been telling everybody I know to go read their statement of beliefs. I guess I'll have to tell them to go read something else now.
Do your neighbors scare you?
coalburned comments on Sep 21, 2020:
I have good neighbors. One is a bit of a pain, but I have no doubt he'd be there a pinch. We try to get together weekly. I live in the south, where decency still matters. I have no concerns about riots or civil unrest.
