This decision took place behind closed doors because it took place in an authoritarian, capitalist firm. Would it have been better if the public could weigh in? Perhaps all of the people protesting last weekend? Should the network be making decisions based on revenue alone, not any value judgments? Shouldn't we consider that in a changing social climate, COPS is no longer profitable?

Maybe they would be able to provide security from the police and military in their communities, but I fear that especially outside of them, during protests and during curfews, it would be an escalation that would cede the moral high ground and lead the police to start shooting black people on sight, at least those who appeared to be carrying. It seems that what protected the firearm-carrying "reopen" protesters was more their orientation toward authorities than it was their weapons. Police respect a bootlicker.

No one did. In fact Obama was responsible for harsh responses to Occupy Wall Street, Standing Rock, and Ferguson and Democratic governors and mayors have been some of the worst offenders during the recent protests. Even Obama's response yesterday left much to be desired. He seemed mostly interested in coopting and moderating the protests. What keeps you from achieving Bill Gates's success? Bizarre question. There are class divides in black communities just as there are among white people. The point is that the police state will be used against anyone who becomes inconvenient to big business and private capital, no matter your relative privilege. We should be all in this fight for freedom together.

@Hanno OK, so whether we go with 65,941 or 85,000, from the article or the latest CDC data, it sounds like that is your "claimed" number. So where then are you getting an "actual" number of COVID-19-related deaths that is around 4x less? I've looked at the data and can reconcile numbers all day, but it will never reveal what argument you are making--what specific argument or numbers you are disputing. Only you can do that.

WilyRickWiles replies on May 2, 2020:
@Hanno "Did you even look at the CDC data?" OK let's break down your argument. You said "The total claimed Covid 19 related deaths is 85 000... almost four times higher than the actual value." That sentence implies that you are comparing two data points: a "claimed" one and an "actual" one. Your previous context (e.g. "I have the CDC data right in front of me.") implied that the CDC data was the "actual" data you were comparing to the "claimed" data of 85,000 in the article. So I countered with a correction, that the article "claims" 65,841 deaths, not 85,000. Your response was incoherent, irrelevant, and as usual, inflammatory. Your insecurity does not reflect well on your alleged intellect. Please clarify which numbers you are comparing, and from which sources other than your ass.
