Is the Hunter Biden email dump believable?
TheMiddleWay comments on Oct 15, 2020:
The intelligence community knew something like this would happen based on hacked emails. So while I chose "something else" since clearly none of us on this board have any reasonable claims to calling it legit or not, let me create an alternative "not legit" story to balance out the "legit" story the NY Post is putting forth. Goes something like this: - These emails are from successful Russian (gov't or non gov't) hacks over the last few monhts - They are altered versions of legit emails to make them real enough but very damning - They were given to Gulliani when he met Yuriy Letsenko - Gulliani, in order to cover up the Russian source concocts a story about laptops and recruits a rabid trump supporter as his patsy (this explain why the store owners story is not straight when interviewed). - In order to further distance himself, Gulliani coordinates with Bannon so that it's Bannon who found out about this, not Gulliani. - Armed with all this, they go to the NY Post (who in my scenario is only guilty of wanting increased viewership by having a "bombshell" exclusive) and the NY Post eats this up and runs with it. Now I want to be clear, the above is purely my imagination of what "could" have happened; some, none, or all of the above could be right. But the point is that there are SO many holes, SO many red flags that my created story is, on the surface, as believable as the NY Post story and that should speak volumes as to the quality of the NY Post story. https://www.businessinsider.com/us-intelligence-analysts-hacked-burisma-emails-russia-october-surprise-2020-10

TheMiddleWay comments on Oct 15, 2020:
>Social media companies are actively blocking any link to the NY Post article as they claim it's fake news Twitter clarified that they blocked the NY Post article, not the story, because the article had personal information, like emails, as part of the pictures they shared and that is against their policy. So as I understand it, if the article had redacted some of the personal emails, it would not have been censored by Twitter

TheMiddleWay comments on Oct 14, 2020:
> Democrats are losing footing on blaming Trump more and more. And Trump isn't to blame for what happened prior to official release of data and recognition of the pandemic. But he most certainly deserves the blame for the response prior which led to our country having 4% of the worlds population but 25% of it's cases, with the USA being #1 in both cases and deaths. He was the president. He deserves the blame.
Yea, yea shocking news, the CCP lied about when the first cases of Covid-19 appeared.
TheMiddleWay comments on Oct 14, 2020:
For one, symptoms similar to COVID is not the same thing as COVID. For two, I have not doubt that the first cases were prior to official account... logically, they had to be for it takes time for people to recognize that this was not a normal flu. And that recognition takes time because it takes statistics, it takes a lot of people dying more often than the normal flu, it takes more people getting infected than the normal flue, it takes having a red flag before you know what the red flag is. So even if those symptoms were COVID, it's natural that the cases would lag behind the identification and I don't know that I would call that a lie since we didn't know about COVID until we knew about COVID if that makes sense. For three, The Epoch Times has a spotting reputation for accuracy and for spreading conspiracy theory. For four, this is your typical "anonymous sources' which means who knows if these documents are legit or fabricated in China by local dissedents. For five, related to four above, China is not like the US were documents could in principle flow easily. It is questionable to me that The Epoch times, by all account a minor outlet, was able to get documents from China that virtually nobody else can, not major outlets, not state officials. Not impossible... but questionable.

Not for nothing but the NY Post is akin to the national enquirer in the quality of it's reporting. TheMiddleWay comments on Oct 14, 2020:
You reap what you sow Because Trump did such an effective job at minimizing the "Trump Tower Meeting" of 2016, then allegations like this are equally minimized. He did such a great job at minimizing "the steele dossier" that regardless of what people read or see they won't believe it. In other words, if the public had not been trained to ignore Trumps similar actions, it might care a bit more if this were true. As it stands, the public has been trained otherwise and thus this will be ignored, regardless of veracity. Four years of "fake news" cries at everything against Trump have given the liberals ample ammunition to cry "fake news" at this as well. And so again, regardless of whether this is true or not, all the left has to say is "fake news" and it's over and done with. You reap what you sow.
Fakebook is now hiding any stories that tie Bidens son to the Ukrainian scam.

The exclusion of transgender individuals from the military may not matter to the LGBQ but it sure matters to the T. Yes, his appointees ruled against him: Trumps administration argued *against* the June 15 SCOTUS Title VII ruling by arguing for the employers. Trump himself didn't give a glowing review of the decision, saying "they'll live with it" which to me sounds like he'll begrudgingly accept it. Also, his administration hasn't done anything to enforce or promote the ruling. I get it... priorities with COVID... but he had time for making EO's on CRT and monuments and Columbus day and Hillary... but no time to EO his administration to enforce the SCOTUS ruling? It's a mixed message at best, with both side given plenty of ammunition to think Trump is for or against LGBTQ. It's also worth noting that accoring to the Hornet report > "Of the 1,200 American men surveyed in a sample of 10,000 Hornet users worldwide, 51 percent pledged support for Joe Biden in the upcoming election, while 45 percent acknowledged they are gay men for Trump, according to a Hornet blog post. Hornet doesn’t offer demographic information on the men."[1] So to say the 45% of gays are voting for trump but excluding that 51% are voting for Biden is, literally, giving only half of the picture... the convenient half if you are a conservative who supports Trump. --- [1] https://www.washingtonblade.com/2020/09/18/survey-finding-45-percent-of-gay-men-back-trump-is-clickbaity-sloppy-journalism/
Are you a fascist?
TheMiddleWay comments on Oct 12, 2020:
Having lived under undeniable fascism (Chile, Pinochet), it strikes me that either side calling the other fascist is a bit of "first world privilege". By this I mean that since few of the people calling each other fascist have actually lived under a boneafide fascist state, they use that word as a strawman, as a way to portray the other side as something so undeniably evil that to support them is to support the devils hisself. As well, since people in the USA are by all account more comfortable than most any country that has undergone fascism, any minimization of the comfort, any inconvenience, any disagreement, no matter how slight, is amplified to the worst possible thing they can imagine. As Admin correctly points out, *elements* of fascism are present on both sides of the political spectrum. To play "who wore it best" is disingenuous since cherry picking elements doesn't mean one side is more fascist than the other... ***neither side is fascist but both sides have fascist elements.*** So it's true that Trump supporters view him with near god-like worship akin to Hitler... or the Beatles. So it's true that Biden supporters want a strong central government like Mussalini... or George Washington. But this doesn't make Trump or Biden or the Beatles or George Washington fascists. ***So I reject the fascist label for anyone in the USA because I reject that the current discomfort americans are legitimately experiencing is akin to the loss of freedom, loss of life, and loss of government my birth country and my fellow Chileans underwent from 1973 to 1990***

CDC study finds overwhelming majority of people getting Covid wore masks- [thefederalist.
TheMiddleWay comments on Oct 12, 2020:
Self-reporting usage is frought with problems. For example, a person who supports masks and gets COVID would want to say that they were it always even if they don't so as to not seem hypocritical. A person who doesn't supports maskes and gets COVID would want to say that they were always wearing masks in order to promote the idea that masks don't help. Further, there is no controlling how masks were worn: were they covering the whole face or only the mouth, were they single cloth, double cloth... did they wash the mask every day... did they mess around with the mask by touching it? Finally, one should always pay attention to what the report actually says rather than relying on what a secondary source says it says: the conclusion is not about mask... the study isn't about masks... but about going and dining out. > Conclusion Adults with confirmed COVID-19 (case-patients) were approximately twice as likely as were control-participants to have reported dining at a restaurant in the 14 days before becoming ill. In addition to dining at a restaurant, case-patients were more likely to report going to a bar/coffee shop, but only when the analysis was restricted to participants without close contact with persons with known COVID-19 before illness onset. Reports of exposures in restaurants have been linked to air circulation (7). Direction, ventilation, and intensity of airflow might affect virus transmission, even if social distancing measures and mask use are implemented according to current guidance So even if we accept the self reporting as factual, masks minimize, they don't prevent. Masks minimize, they don't prevent. And so the study says that regardless of mask, going to a bar or restaurant increases you chance of getting COVID... which is a pretty "d'uh" statement but one that has to be made.

It could be "you are ok to return to public life with precautions" meaning he is not immune nor can't give it in which case Twitter would be right... ...or it could be "your are immune and you can't give it" in which case Twitter would be wrong. However, given that we don't have the sign off (AFAIK) and we don't know when he last tested negative (if he has), Twitter is right for the time being.

Pennsylvania: Nearly 60,000 Mail Ballots Unaccounted for in Trump-Heavy County
TheMiddleWay comments on Oct 11, 2020:
Why not trust? The mistake found and the mistake corrected. So the headline "ballots unaccounted" is click bait because they have been fully accounted by virtue of not being sent out and, in the words of the article, were never lost. Further, they don't say if these were requested or unrequested ballots for if they were the latter, it wouldn't affect Trump voting since Trump supporters are being told to not trust these even if they got them and would likely vote in person. And last it was Trump Heavy county last election... ZERO guarantee that it is this way this election so framing it as "Trump Heavy" is again clickbait. And if you don't get your mail in ballot in time, you can still vote in person.

However in reading the paper, they make no such suggestions. For one, the only talk of the electoral college being anti-democratic is stated as an asset held by the Biden team players in the campaign game on page 7. For two, The only talk of the electoral college being abolished is in the context of the game scenarios and possible Biden campaign strategies on pages at 10 and 18. It is in no way shape or form suggested by the authors as something that needs done or that it's their collective view. Why do Democrats still believe that Trump didn't denounce "White Supremacy"?
TheMiddleWay comments on Oct 10, 2020:
Since you bring up a debates, they are a great case study in how the candidates make it easy for these false assertions to continue to be made about them. When Wallace asked if he would denounce it, Trump should have said " I've done it in the past and I'll do it again I denounce white supremacy and extremist militia groups" done. 5 secs. Completely cuts the feet under any further suggestions that he hasn't. But instead, he doesn't just answer the question directly, goes on a 20 or 30 second back and forth, and still doesn't denounce it, thus giving the left the ammunition they want by allowing them to say that he didn't denounce it in the debate, which is technically true because he didn't at the debate despite having done so previously. As well, it allows Trump to putt his foot in his mouth with the now infamous "stand back and stand by line". likewise, on the other side, when Trump kept on pressing Biden that he wouldn't say law and order, Biden should have looked straight into the camera and said quite simply quite slowly "law and order". Nothing more and those three simple words cut the feet out from under the right assertion that he is for lawlessness. But instead he says nothing doesn't address the issue and thus gives the rights all the ammunition they need to further the notion of the left's lawlessness... Even though it's absolutely clear that Biden is for law in order in this country. So, due to both politicians failure in speaking plainly, they each give the other side ammunition to promote false ideas instead of cutting the legs from under them when giving the opportunity.
Why do Democrats still believe that Trump didn't denounce "White Supremacy"?

Unless you are a conspiracy nut, NWO is proper usage for the response of the world to the pandemic. > The term "new world order" has been used to refer to a new period of history evidencing dramatic change in world political thought and the balance of power. ***Despite various interpretations of this term, it is primarily associated with the ideological notion of world governance only in the sense of new collective efforts to identify, understand, or address worldwide problems that go beyond the capacity of individual nation-states to solve.*** https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_world_order_(politics)
Does anyone want to discuss the elephant in the room that this election is ignoring?

Maybe nobody cares because nobody is against the abolishment of nationalism as much as you. Especially those that grew up with Star Trek and other Sci Fi where the world is run more efficiently by not having our actions dictated by artificial boundary lines.

> Is there really anything more Trump can do to get Hillary and the rest of the swamp creatures charged? Yes. Plenty. He can - Plant the evidence - Charge them without evidence - Make up the evidence - Make up new charges. At the end of the day, one has to admit that if you look for something everywhere and don't find it either a) it was never there to begin with or b) you've been outsmarted and you're never going to find it. I'm still waiting to hear the hour long telephone interview, though from what sources are saying, it sounds like a 'roid charged rant.

Have you heard of something called the T. I. P. - Transition Integrity Project?
TheMiddleWay comments on Oct 9, 2020:
From a quick viewing of the video, the commentator states that the authors of the paper consider the electoral college an antidemocrati system and want it abolished. This misreading, either purpuseful or not, by the commentator renders her video suspect and her opinions on the paper equally suspect.

Interesting how tip is bipartisan and explicitly meant to prevent disruption... But the video spins it into a left plot and how its going to steel the election. Full disclosure getting to bedd and so I haven't read the full report but the first page I read was spot on and speaks of the many troubles that will happen regardless of who wins and from what I read, suggestions on how to mitigate those problems

Just saw! No wonder the FBI put militia groups on the terrorist list!!!! I hope Trump denounces them clearly, directly, and without obfuscation. I get that at some point they might have been seen as part of his base and thus didn't want to lose them. But I think it's safe to say he can lose these losers and not lose his base.

The reason polls failed last time was because they were polling predominately college educated individuals in urban areas. This time, they've corrected that mistake. I can't speak to whether the polls are accurate or not: they weren't last time, they may not be this time. But the mistakes of 2016 are not being repeated by the polls... though... they may be repeated by the voters.

Here's my compliment sandwich; enjoy! a) God damn Australian men and women are beautiful people. b) Claiming oneself the winner (alternatively, the other the loser) is not winning; it's masturbation: feels good but the pleasure is self given. c) Debates shouldn't be about winning or losing, IMO. Unless there is an impartial judge and preset rules (say oxford or paris style) they should be about the exposition of ideas and viewpoints for the audience, not "beating" your opponent. d) Apologizing to a person, and in public no less, is a lost virtue and on that alone, you are to be commended.
