By the way, I spent a few days in Denmark and Sweden last month. I also spent some time in Malmo. It looked very posh. New buildings everywhere, plus a new university. The state is giving a complete makeover so that people will move to Malmo from Copenhagen (only about 20 min. drive) and Malmo will eventually become a bustling city like Copenhagen. I didn't witness any of the civil disruption which is often reported by the media as if it is all over Malmo. Since the refugee crisis Sweden suffered in 2015, border control became much stricter.

I wasn't disagreeing with you. I thought you said you were a strong proponent of religious faith as a provider of a basis for morality. So I added a neurological aspect to it, i.e. studies show that there is a scientific basis for morality. I myself was brought up by non-religious parents in a secular environment. There has been no god involved in my life, yet I grew up to be a good person. I had to ask where my moral values came from then, and I learnt about those studies. Hello Oxfret, "The notion that you can not have mutual knowledge of attraction and continue a friendship" I think you can, but it is hard to build a trusting relationship. I find language very interesting. There is so much depth to it. It is more than just a communication tool. How I express myself certainly reflects my mood, feeling, thought, etc., and even my personality. It also depends on time, place, who I am interacting with, the situation I am in, etc., etc. For instance, when you want someone to go away, you could say: Well, if you could excuse me; I have things to do. I think you'd better go now. I need some time alone. Please leave. Oh, go away, will you. F**k off! etc. 😆 You mention that some people have to spend their whole lives behind veiled interactions. @Bay0Wulf You make a good point. Many years ago in the UK, there was no such thing as "water meter". No matter how much water we used, we all paid the same price. There, there GeeMac... I want to know what you were on when you posted your comment. :P The florist served the gay customer for 10 years. It sounds like her relationship with him has been a friendly one. But then, her Christian belief had to play a big part in deciding whether or not she should participate in his same-sex wedding. She says in the article "When he came in to talk to me about his wedding, I just simply put my hands on his and told him I could not do it because of my relationship with Jesus Christ." Assuming that her relationship with him has been a friendly one, she doesn't sound like a judgemental, morally-superior person to me. And she continues to say "Without any complaint from Rob ... the attorney general from the state of Washington sued me personally and corporately simply because I have a different viewpoint on marriage." Her gay customer didn't even file a complaint against her decision. Nonetheless, the Washington State intervened. It sounds odd to me. I'm sure that freedom of religion is also a constitutionally protected right in Canada as in many countries. I think it is wrong that the Washington State is suing the florist. At personal level, I think it is wrong for anyone to try to impose their strong beliefs on others. For example, I don't think that Christian values are the best in the world; I don't think that going vegan is a solution to the climate change crisis (if it is), and I simply don't care about other people's sexuality. And if anyone tries to force their beliefs on me, I won't like it. In my opinion, a diverse society cannot be a healthy one without mutual recognition and respect (it's well hard, though!).
I thought there was such thing as "freedom of religion".

Hello, Legal or illegal, killing animals for fun is the bit I can't go along with. I watched a documentary showing that somewhere in Africa, lion cubs are separated from their mothers and tamed, and when they're big enough, they're released into the wild. As they're not afraid of humans (trophy hunters), it makes it easy to kill them. I think they said it was against the international animal welfare law. In any event, it is ironic if such an activity is helping the local economy.

Hello, The Western perspective, I would say. For example, the standard of animal welfare is sophisticated in the UK, and how the British people care about animals' well-being, both wild and domesticated, may be puzzling to others. You could be fined, if not jailed for animal cruelty. If you hunt animals, eat them by all means - real hunting for survival - I have no problem with that. @ObiRonMoldy The whole situation has gone so crazy and complicated that it is very hard to untangle. I'm inclined to believe that Greta has been used as a moral shield, hence no one dares to debate her. I find it frustrating that she and other teens who possibly have different/opposite opinions haven't been given a chance to sit down and have a proper debate on climate change. Climate change does need to be discussed among young people. I would like to believe that the passion and beliefs shared by Greta and other young people are genuine. They need to be heard. Also, how her parents put her in the spotlight is similar to how the parents of child actors encourage them to get noticed - maybe. Many adults have been angry at her - I'm not - and I don't quite know why. But, I think it is human psychology that when someone reminds you of the truth about say, something you're not proud of, you become irate because you're ashamed or embarrassed, etc. - again just maybe.

Hello. Thank you very much for your time and your close thoughts. Much appreciated I would say your view differs from mine in that I don't necessarily consider hate speech and mickey-taking comments as part of free speech. I happily admit that I am not a free speech absolutist. To me, free speech has to be meaningful and productive; whether it is a conversation, discussion, debate, or any form of communication, it needs to be meaningful and productive. When it is reduced to mickey-taking, bickering, name-calling, that sort of things, I no longer consider it as free speech; it's simply rude, childish and disrespectful (OK, I don't deny that they can be entertaining, sometimes. :P) To me, justification of "I can say whatever I like" in the name of freedom of speech is wrong. It doesn't necessarily mean that I try to stop such nonsensical behaviour and utterances, let alone banning them legally, but once I decided that I am not gaining anything valuable, I would probably disengage myself. Another thing I would say is that as the definition of free speech varies, I find it impossible to define/measure "hate" along with many other words that describe emotional states, e.g., anger, happiness, sorrow, disappointment, etc., etc. These words can only be measured subjectively by different individuals in my opinion.
