Naomi replies on Dec 13, 2020:
Hello timon_phocas. I'm under the impression that black vs white conflicts are more prominent in America than anywhere else. It seems such a shame that small children have to be burdened with grown-ups' concerns and worries about stuff like racism. Bringing racism issues to the awareness of young children can have an adverse effect, I think. Prejudice is something that is instilled in children by adults. While they have little or no prejudice, children have a much better ability to overcome each others' differences and make friends with each other. It's much better to teach them to be kind to each other without so much focus on raising the awareness of racism. Season's greetings to you, too.

Naomi replies on Dec 11, 2020:
@1914wizard When I interact with a person, in the real world, I tend not to have a "because you're man/woman" view straight away about that person. Of course, I can roughly identify the gender, race, etc., of any person by their appearance, but I normally manage to go beyond that kind of superficial level and acknowledge their personality, skills, interests, that sort of things. Adhering to the principle that people's rights are equally protected by the law seems to suppress me from interacting with people on the gender basis. In workplaces in particular, I'm inclined to think that if a person is good at what they're expected to do, like having good leadership qualities, their gender is almost irrelevant. (Don't get me wrong; I'm not a postmodernist. Lol!)

That is WHY it is wrong to "misattribute" such a quote along millions of them. It is dishonesty. It is manipulation. You are missing the point, Gary. It is not about communism. The point is about sharing information responsibly. For example, check in what context someone uttered certain words that became a famous quote later. Hanno has a very good point.

Naomi replies on Dec 2, 2020:
@RobBlair If one is only capable of seeing matters black and white, they will debate merely on whether those matters are true or fake, like debating on whether Marx was a liar or not when he said those words in question. They never bother with context, nuance, that sort of things. (Marx and Engel lived in a very different world through very different times in the 19 century.) When someone on the opposite side says something correct, it is often dismissed as a lie because it just doesn't fit a favoured narrative; it is rather inconvenient. We witness this everyday.

@SpikeTalon Believing in something or being sceptical about something never leads to a good debate, it is often subjective and groundless. When I share information, including memes, especially those that are supposed to be by well-known people, I must be responsible for circulating them. On this occasion, if you Google "Fact check, Did Reagan say 'under no pretext..., etc.", you'll get many hits all telling you that Reagan didn't say it; Marx did.

@pbuck0145 No, I don't have statistics, but perhaps I can find some. What I'm getting at is that if it is true that more and more people, especially young ones, are leaving their faith, regardless of which religion, it has to do with the modern secular society in which we live in.

When the majority voted for Brexit a few years ago, it was feared that many business would be lost, but no, they formulated contingency plans/survival strategies and prepared themselves for Brexit. Hello. A friend of mine is a farmer living in a small rural community and the co-up plays a very important role in sustaining the local economy. I guess that when a community is very small, the community spirit can be a little too much. Like any organisation, there may be trust issues, peer pressure, that sort of things. Still, in her community, the co-op system is in place and has been functioning well for generations, and there is no sign of it developing into a dictatorship any time soon. Maybe there is a degree of paranoia about community-based systems developing into communism which isn't likely the case.

@GeeMac Again, you're talking in general terms. You're talking as if you know exactly what is going on in the education/academic world on a global scale; you're talking as if you know exactly what is going on in every single school and college in every single town and city in every single region and country in the world. "Most teachers and educational materials — by that I mean text books, audio visuals, and teaching aids — are biased toward the left, and against western tradition." That's rhetoric. You sound like a propaganda machine! You don't sound like you have ever been actually involved in education as a professional like a headmaster, a teacher, a classroom assistant, education advisor, etc. You initially said "The education system drills anti-capitalism into their little heads from day one." Well, I can tell you specifically that in my school, there is no such thing as an anti-capitalism program incorporated in the school curriculum which corresponds to the national curriculum. And there are many in the educational field who are right against the view you presented in your comment. Katharine Birbalsingh is one of them. I rest my case.

Hmm... Thanks for the explanation. I was more interested in knowing what YOU would like to do with your own life rather than how you would like to change the entire world. Do you have anyone special in your life right now? I think it is important that one is in a good human relationship; whether it is a love relationship, a sibling relationship, a parent-child relation, or something else. I think that without real human interactions, we can't start talking about society and everything that is included in it, i.e., politics, ideologies, beliefs, that sort of things.
