@MosheBenIssac If you can be bothered to read this article... https://www.cato.org/policy-report/januaryfebruary-2013/how-china-became-capitalist I'm inclined to go along with this perspective which is different from yours. Also, again, if you can be bothered to read this: "China after the death of Mao" https://www.britannica.com/place/China/Consequences-of-the-Cultural-Revolution#ref71860 And this: https://arcdigital.media/is-china-still-maoist-d8ec83ac1084 "Neo-Maoist historical revisionism is strengthening under Xi Jinping. This is not because Xi seeks to reintroduce the Red Guards who carried out the Cultural Revolution. But Xi sees the party’s revolutionary history as one of its strongest sources of legitimacy, and by extension his own legitimacy as leader. That’s why he has targeted “historical nihilism,” which portrays Mao and Stalin negatively (or, as one might put it, “accurately”). Mao’s historical stature is a useful ideological cudgel." Some may support neo-Maoism within China, but having read these articles, I don't think that Maoism is applicable to today's China.

There is no foreign news getting inside of China, its completely cut off, there is zero free press inside of China." Are you sure about that? I find it off-putting that grown-ups often assume that young people, especially young "hot" women, don't care about politics. Moreover, nowadays, the Chinese, especially the middle-class, are great holiday makers. You go abroad and you can't not see Chinese tourists. Also, there are many Chinese businesses established outside China, not to mention many Chinese academics working abroad. China is still classified as communist but it is no longer like Mao's China. Let's not become affected by propaganda that tries to superimpose the image of Mao's China upon today's China.

Hello. You're very politically-minded. I'm not. I'm rather anthropologically-minded. I like observing people and asking questions like "Why do they behave the way they behave?" There are many cultural factors as to why different people have different ways of thinking. Generation is one of them. No one can deny generation gaps, for example. "When I was a young man/woman..." That's how grandparents' stories typically begin. If they didn't live in different times from younger generations, why bother telling their childhood and adolescence? Even a simple circumstance like whether you were born with or without the Internet has an impact on your world-view. What you call common sense and values can be very different from those of young people and it doesn't even have to be the mater of who is right and who is wrong; they are just different simply because of generation gap as such. "Personally I'm not a fan of this type of thinking about people and ourselves. What is missing in these types of overviews, is focus on the individuality. Everyone is just put into artificially made boxes and categories. It is in essence a bureaucratic way of doing things. .... in triplicate." When I made this post, I wasn't thinking politically at all. Try not to associate this post with identity politics; that wasn't my intention at all. I posted this on a much lighter note. How did you grow up in Croatia as a child and as a young man through your generation? Can you think of any significant event that happened in your life while you were growing up? Did it have an impact on your perspective as to how you should live your life?

@Hanno I don't think AI will kill all human jobs, but certainly repetitive and routine jobs. Automation/robots continue to replace more factory workers, and those displaced can find jobs in different sectors like transport, construction, administration, etc. Plus, machines still need programmers and other humans for maintenance and repair. I think you're right that it may be becoming harder to find workers with good craftsman skills.

@TheMiddleWay "If I'm a somali immigrant who knows little to nothing of language and culture, it is an easier transition to surround myself with other somalis for support than to be thrown into the deep end and see if one can swim." I can so relate myself to that as I am an immigrant in England. It is nothing to do identity politics. It is merely about comfort and reassurance. When I came to England many years ago, my English wasn't all that good. However, instead of creating a comfort zone with other immigrants who were in similar situations to mine, I disciplined myself to integrate with Brits on the basis of the principle of "When in Rome, do as the Romans do". It did me good. :) Meanwhile, I have met some immigrants who have no intention of assimilating themselves in British society. I don't get it. Anyway, this is off the topic. Lol

Hello there. Parental control over young children's activities on their phones is fine, but not always fine with teenagers.
