In fact, we have seen something similar where I live. I am a part of the local VFW and American Legion Honor Guards, and we were allowed to hold a brief, outdoor service of remembrance on both Veterans Day and Memorial Day, but we could not advertise it to let people know we were doing it, so only a tiny group of people, who happened to be out in the streets to see us, were even aware. Personally, I think that Steve overestimates the role of the U.S. in the world following the breakup of the Soviet Union, and he seems to be a bit less suspicious of Putin's Russia than I think we should be.

*First*, it takes the kind of unmitigated gall and hypocritical lack of self-awareness that only someone like Fauci possesses to accuse Conservatives of being politically motivated in their refusal to take the vaccine when he has done as much as anyone in the country to politicize the pandemic in the first place. *Second*, although I do not think it is just Conservatives that are tending to avoid the vaccine, those conservatives that are doing so are not doing so for political reasons. After all, most of them voted for Donald Trump, and he was the one who rushed through the vaccine. But that is the issue. It seems to have been rushed, and many people don't trust a vaccine that they are not convinced has yet been as thoroughly tested as it should have been. In fact, it seems that it is undergoing the final testing with the populations of various countries as the guinea pigs. At any rate, it most definitely isn't politics that is leading me to pass on the vaccine; it is common sense. But a political animal such as Fauci apparently cannot think in anything other than political terms. He should just shut up already and go away. He has lost the trust of way too many people to be effective or believable.
