The "Floyd" sticker turning "George Todd Park" into "George Floyd Park" was taken down. But the president of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board "commend[s] whoever it was for their creativity and detailed work"¹ and is "very open" to changing the name as long as the decision is "grounded in Black and brown community voices".
Can you imagine a USSA government official saying a decision has to be grounded in "White community voices"?
Can you imagine the USS George Floyd, a USSA warship sent to Bring Democracy! to some irrelevant, distant land? Just as the original George Floyd put a gun to a pregnant woman's belly, its namesake can also threaten with deadly force.
¹Could whoever made the sticker have been an insider with precise knowledge of the font used on city park signs?
