Let's count the score. Sputnik, 1957. Yuri Gagarin, first man in space, 1961. Valentina Tereshkova, first woman in space, 1963. Developed the Soyuz rockets, that have been putting America in space since the US government ended the shuttle program (after one shuttle blew up on lift off, and another disintegrated on reentry) and abandoned our space program. Invented the MIR space station, the first of kind built in the 70s and in orbit until 2001. The US hasn't been to the moon since 1972, because apparently, the technology that put man on the moon, "has been lost," as has all the original footage of the first moon landing. These people are so arrogant. The US space program has always been starved of cash come budget time, and had been for all intents and purposes nonexistent for years. The way it looks to me, the US doesn't have a space program. It lacks the platforms to put anyone into orbit, and has been dependent on Russia and other countries to provide the platforms for doing so. We are incapable or unwilling to do anything on our own. We depend on others for it, and then deign to have the temerity to act as if it weren't for us, they'd have nothing. Wow.
