I’ve tried to avoid the politics of Covid. And domestic politics are irrelevant at this point. The government isn’t God. The democrats are dishonest, and Trump underplayed this a little too long. But no one, and I mean NO ONE was calling for lock downs and $6 trillion in spending 2&1/2 weeks ago so let’s just say we didn’t see this coming.
Why? Well, because CHY-NA is a horrible 3rd world shithole dictatorship that lied to the entirety of humanity and are still lying. Who knows how many will die? 10’s of 1000’s?100’s of 1000’s? Millions? I don’t know. Certainly, the former I pray not the latter
Where does that leave the rest of us? The world must make the government of China pay for its greed and lust for world power at the cost of not only their own people but the peoples of every nation on the planet. An estimated $10-15 trillion dollars will be lost because of this epidemic. And no, my progressive friends, not just from the evil 1%. They can afford it but can your parents? Your neighbors? You?
Even now the Chinees seek to take advantage of the pandemic. Seizing supplies bought by other in their manufacturing hubs. Moving their navy into the long contested North China Sea, seeking to secure the oil rich region. And manipulating the UN (so called) WHO into covering for their egregious actions surrounding the spread of Covid 19.
When this ends, and it will end, CHY-NA must be brought to heel. Hopefully economically. Militarily if needs be, but one way or the other the world cannot, must not, allow the Chinees government to simply act as if they, and they alone, do not bear the responsibility for this tragedy.

Interesting point.
I always wondered what would have happened if we did not stop those regimes and just used diplomacy and sanctions like we are doing with North Korea.
Would we have been better or worse off allowing the Taliban to continue setting a precedent for other nutter groups that they will get away with it.
In retrospect they may get away with it anyway.
Nevertheless China is not Afghanistan and will need different treatment.
Definitely not military unless they start it... however trade war is another matter.
@Hanno, China is now capable of defeating our military, but that gives them another problem: What then? They are aware of the problem of managing a conquered nation like the US, and their own problems are immense. We can expect to see some of the Chinese provinces attempt to separate at great loss of life, because the regime is already far to large to manage.
@TimTuolomne China is no match for the US military. The have 1 outdated aircraft carrier and limited ground based air power. While we could certainly never invade China and hope to win, in the skies and on the sea they are not the force they pretend to be. But should it ever come to war we'd have to ask ourselves the same question, what now?
@Boardwine, You might give Jane's Military website a look. You may be surprised at China's readiness, especially their ability to project an EMP across the US.
Any country that purposely kills 60 million of their own people, was never meant to be a part of the modern world. Can we hope that the western world has learned this lesson now? The ruling class, the CCP, is the same one that ran the "great leap forward" and until that changes we must treat China as the mad dog of the world that they are.

The CCP has been attributed a boogyman-like shrewdness and invincibility they do not have. That is the reason they need to squash anything that could threaten their tenuous hold that minority has on the country, such as the appearance that they bungled the virus, and they clearly did. Read the Epoch Times and go to Sen. Tom Cotton's website.
No smart person will have any problem with Trump attempting to reassure a country dominated by panic. That is what is driving all of this, to the delight of the media, whose advertising revenue will hit heights it has not seen for some time.
